I like the way you're taking your crankcase pressure out of the manifold valley, Mike.

My reasoning that there should be less oil mist in the valley than in the rocker covers. I also went with 2x #10 fittings since I haven't got any PCV connection pulling vacuum so needed plenty of airflow.

The other advantage of doing this is that it leaves the rocker covers completely uncluttered. Remove 4 bolts on each side and you are servicing the rocker gear.

Still interested in seeing any Cobra LS variant with a more direct induction system similar to the OTRCAI as depicted in post 8 and 20 on the GM variants.

Closest I have ever seen are pod type set ups which surprises me as I thought as OTRCAI type would be an easy option due to the design of the cobra?

Both Ben and Gav have nice OTR Cold Air setups on their LS1s. Hopefully they will post some pics.

Cheers

This car took home a bunch of Trophies at this years Summenats and is a real credit to Ben.

Cheers Mike.

The cold induction definitely works. From memory I picked up 17 rwhp when this intake was fitted. It is a customized VE type setup.

This water pump set up is exactly what suits the LS motors, clockwise rotation and a nice looking pulley.

Awesome work that you have done there.

THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!!!!!!! Well Done!!! So much research done to prove this set up works the best!!!

17rwhp gain sounds on the money....

Just a question...I cant see the IAT sensor? Where is it located?

Gav 02-27-2012 04:24 AM

The VCM Suite VZ OTR was what I fitted.
I can't find any pics (nor can be bothered dicking about with picture sizes to upload them here!!) but it was a straight forward fit, but with mine I needed to trim the radiator down by about 50mm.
The OTR requires a space about 50mm high and 70mm wide to fit over your radiator.
The stock IAT sensor fits into a port on the side.
It DEFINITLY makes a huge difference in performance, the under bonnet temps on mine where upward of 80degC during a drive, and higher when the thermo fans kicked in.
Probably the best bang for buck mod with a LS cobra.

No problems Gav, I know what the VCM one looks like so need for pics. As for the IAT, I just couldn't see one in the images of the stainless OTR.

And yes, I agree....bang for buck..great mod!

Hey Gav, That VCM Suite OTR kit looks like a great idea. In your post you mentioned 50mm high x 70mm wide space? I would have thought the width requirement would have been more from the pics on VCM's site? Rgds Gregg

Hidden on the underside of the intake pipe.

Sorry, The space required is 50mm high 70mm wide (thickness of radiator) and 470mm wide across the radiator!

I still reckon this thread should be a "sticky".

Presuming there are no objections, does anyone here have the authority/ ability to do this or do I ask Jamo to do it?
