LS1 v LS6 starter motor

I have very limited clearance between the starter motor and the extractors (headers). I read somewhere that the LS6 starter was a better fit, i.e. smaller. Is this true? Thanks.

(edit) I have since found this - http://clubroadster.net/vb_forum/sho....php?p=1314161 see post 404.

Does anyone know if different starter motors were fitted in Oz?
