Well, anyone confirm this story of the car being found? Nothing in the newspapers about it.

It sounds like he found out he paid 2x for it and is looking for insurance money to pay him back... I hope not, but... all this sounds a bit too much like an ill concieved scam...

But then Insurance companies are a very well concieved scam.

This article appeared in the press late last year and a few of us were thinking: Could this be another chapter in the life of CSX 4048? Information was pretty thin on the ground due to the on going police investigation. At that stage it was pure speculation as to whether it was in fact CSX 4048.

Drugs worth $43m and exotic animals seized in NSW police raids | World news | theguardian.com

Well, further to the tale I was down at Bondi Ink getting another skull tatt and overheard the following conversation;

Kia Ora
Hey bro
How it goin mate
I think I’m gunna hurl bro eh, I’m munted eh, my emport/export business has hit a judder bump eh. I spoke to my cuz's mole and word in the big house is I was snitched on eh. My new waka which was choka with my stash of hooch. It didn’t even get over the ditch man eh, its bin sizzed by the blimmin NSW cops at some bum bandit’s bache out in the wop-wops, a place called Palmdale.
Cum agin
My shipment man and my Cobra its bin sizzed by the cops.

Now for those of you who don't speak kiwiese;

CSX 4048 was seized in a drugs bust at Palmdale on the NSW Central Coast by the NSW police. It was reportedly stashed with drugs and packed in a shipping container ready to be exported to NZ. The compliance tags, (oh hang on it probably wouldn’t have had any of those) and any identifying markings were apparently removed.
It’s reportedly been released back into the hands of its owner and is currently undergoing some repair work and major cleaning (apparently to remove copious amounts of finger print powder) at a local auto repair shop.

Bet he was pleased to get it back eh?

The whole story is a bit strange but the two things that I find strange in this latest chapter; Do they really export cannabis to NZ, I mean why wouldn't the kiwis grow their own? Secondly how do you rebirth such a car? Surely the intrinsic value of the car is it's VIN number? Its hard to imagine a scenario where the VIN number could be restored thereby restoring the value of the car and everyone living happily ever after. I would have thought that NZ was a bit close to home to get away with that, I suppose though that NZ may not have been it's ultimate destination.

I can't see them exporting Cannabis to NZ either. Having grown up there it was pretty common. I used to do a bit of tramping (bush walking) in my younger days and several fellow trampers had found big crops up in the bush. There's lots of dense forest and rugged terrain for them to hide a crop in.

The NZ police used to use Helicopters to spot the crops and then drop guys in to haul it out. I remember working at Maketu telephone exchange and a helicopter landing on the school footy field next door. Strapped to the underside of the chopper and stuffed in side was a veritable forest of dope plants. Waiting police unloaded into a big box trailer and then it took off again. 5 minutes later after they were all gone the shcool kids came over and picked up all the bits of plant that had been blown every where by the helicopter. There's the police trying to keep drugs out of schools LOL!

Cheers

Currently I thing it's about $1 USD = $1.40 AUD
So, $300k AUS would be around $214k US

Default Here is CSX 4048

Good evening gentlemen, CSX 4048 is in Sydney for sale. The Plaque and glove box were removed when stolen and yes, it was found in a container bound for overseas with a number of exotics.
