I can confirm Brad had his car on the track and it looked great, even when pointing backwards

A few engine issues may have cut short the weekend a bit though.

Default 2014 Nationals

Hi Everyone

The Nationals was a hoot and I think its due to the NSW Cobra Club's attention to detail, every thing went off like clockwork except when someone lunched an engine or spun off the track (ME)

The Pace 427SC was very stable at 160-170 Kms per hour but I have to get some more sympathy for mechanical components.

The brakes are awesome and I have to get used to them being NON power assisted .

I don't think there is much damage to the Windsor just a bearing slipper (I hope) anyway isn't that the fun of it all fixing something that you have broken.

Xmas wish list here I come

I will see what I can scam from the handbrake

Cheers

Brad

Bummer to hear about the mechanical issue. Is Mr Stone still selling his Dart block stroker from his DRB? Good parts (with a build sheet from a reputable builder) for the right price.

Hi Craig

I won't be building a stroker unless it's a 351 stroker to 427 or there bouts.

I can get into enough trouble with my 302 CI Windsor.

I will post some photos of the bearings after I disassemble the engine tomorrow.

Number 5 big end bearing slipped around the con rod journal.

It's not a big deal just a complete clean new big end and main bearings a new oil cooler double row timing chain ,fully baffled sump ,and maybe roller rockers and I will be back in business.

Cheers

Brad

Out of interest Brad what's the main difference in how non power assisted brakes behave? I have to admit every car I've ever driven has been power assisted, right back to my HT Prem.

Hi Sambo

Its all about a strong right leg when the power assist comes into play it multiplies your effort.

Mind you the brain has to be trained to accept the fact that more effort is required.

I haven't owned a non power assisted brake car since the late 60's.

When the brakes warmed up there was a lot more feel with the pedal and less effort was required or I was used to the situation.

Fitting smaller diameter master cylinders to the brake system will decrease the effort you have to make on the brake pedal.

But the braking of the car in the end was awesome.

Cheers

Brad

Paul, as Brad has said its the difference between using your Big Toe (Power Assist) and your Whole foot (MC Only).

The trick is to not put yourself through the windscreen when you get back in your road car and use your Whole Foot :-)

I personally like the Dual MC non-vacuum assist as I reckon I can "feel" when its going to lock up (except on Hill Climbs on cold tyres) :-)

cheers Gregg

Your Post number #556 has just disappeared! Same as your emails Chris! You've got a gremlin in your computer
