Sambo mine was black and polished still looked like crap next to painted one.In my opinion paint is the only option you won't regret it

Sambo, I filed down the seams, buffed mine with non silicone cutting compound and stuck some vynil stripes on. It was that shiney that people thought it was actually painted. The seams and some inclusion repairs gave it away though.

Where did they end up putting the joins? are they very noticable? How did they go with the complex curves around the back of the car? Cheers |
The guys I used had never wrapped anything like this before , the closest they had done in the past was a PT Cruiser. They found both the Cobra and PT Cruiser to be a real challange, a lot of thought has to go into where you start to lay a panel and where the vinyl needs to be stretched.
We did no preparation to the body at all and all of the seams are still visible. Because of this, we decided to mainly follow the seams in the fibreglass with the joins in the vinyl. You only really notice the vinyl joins if you are looking for them. Kim |

How heat resistant is this stuff. I noticed you have live pipes and couldn't help wondering whether it is likely to be an issue where they exit the body. |

Not real sure about the heat resistance in practice. I know when you are applying it and resetting the memory, you need to heat it over 90 degrees.
Apparently once on the panel, it is good up to around 200 degrees. The exhaust seems to be at it's hotest when on the track so I guess we will be testing this at Shelbyfest :D |

Paul, I agree with Benny. Get yourself down to The Healey Factory and have a look at the "Portifino Blue" (pretty damned close) cars. You will soon forget about tempory paint

Pit stripes are a good conversation thing for the uninformed.. If you like em...keep em. Stuff everyone elses' opinion.

I really like them, and I think they add to your car.
Plus they hide some of the brush marks from when you painted it... :D But seriously, I think you should do what you want. Otherwise we'd all be driving blue with white stripes. Which brings me to my next thought; does anyone have any pictures of a British Racing Green Cobra? I've never seen one, and it's piqued my curiosity. Treeve |
