That's an impressive looking shop; I like the look of the various painted shells in the background.
To keep Ash happy, I like blue with white stripes (that's what my Daytona will be getting if I ever build it), but it's my personal preference... My Dax is BRG, and I think it's the 'right' colour for a 7. But then, I think 8 cylinders is the right number for a 7 too, so what would I know! Treeve |

I'll try and find a few shots taken of a cobra that used to be hired out here in Melbourne. These are old photos so I'll have to scan them and then I can attach them to another post here. Know it was a dark-ish green with gold stripes I seem to recall. Not sure if it was BRG though. My drive of this car was a fortieth birthday present and what sealed the deal about getting a cobra once my wife was able to get behind the wheel too. Recall that took some effort to get me out from behind the wheel. And I knew what the result was going to be even before the missus took the car for a punt. Wrapped Cobras

Since this thread finished have there been any more Cobras wrapped in Australia I am especially interested in Brisbane based cars. Any experience? How did it go. How have they lasted. Who did it? Pictures Thanks Bruce |

Tony Stark just had his race Cobra wrapped . At a distance it looks ok but I would not like it on a street cobra , the body has to be smoothed out like if being painted and you will have to do that , the wrap was not that cheap .may be because of the extra graphics for his grandsons sponsors . in my opium sand down the seams ,fill any pits with the white gel coat and buff the body , yes a bit of work at little cost then add some strips with the wrap or stickers from a sign writer . Paul Crocitti did his drb in carbon wrap and it looked good. I was quoted $6k to do my car and it was already painted a few years ago. They both have their + and -.

I just had a full body wrap done in deep matte black with matte metallic blue stripes. It's a tribute car through our foundation and we are wrapping my wife's vehicle as well. It was a package deal but I think it was around $3K to do the Cobra.

If you have/get the equipment and willing to develop the skill, all paint is "temporary". But for $200-400, Plasti-Dip is pretty much the way to go.
It goes on over any surface, really. Anyone who says it "won't work" over fiberglass is full of crap. There's a few cars on this forum who have Plasti-Dip finishes; I remember reading it in their build thread. https://www.dipyourcar.com/collections/popular-car-kits All the basic colors are there; you can give it a top coat if you like the paint shiny, otherwise it will look a lot like a Cobra race car would've back in the day. And provided you put the coats on heavy enough (5 wet coats, minimum) it should all peel off when you're done with it. If it won't peel, shoot a couple more coats on it, until it will. |

Chris and others - were they perhaps thinking the 'rough side' of the 'glass wouldn't let the plastidip adhere? The gelcoat finish might be a bit different. And that's what's we're talking about, right? Adhere to gelcoat NOT fibreglass per se?
