Default CSX4990 heading to Australia

OK, who bought it? Beautiful car!!!

From http://www.CobraCountry.com/cobra4sa...4990/home.html

Shelby 427SC Cobra, CSX4990. Guardsman Blue. Registered under the coveted "SB100" (California Senate*Bill*100)—that means no smog certification, no California registration hassles for the life of the car! Under the hood: Shelby aluminum 427/452*cid V8 [engine# CSX 948; power output: 500*horses/ 500*ft./lbs. torque]. The engine, geartrain, brakes & suspension are outfitted to the veritable 9's with top-of-the line/ cost no barrier componentry. CSX4990's dashboard was autographed by both Carroll Shelby and Team driver Allen Grant (in front of crowd and press photographers) at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, on 4 November 2008.
Carmel, California USA

4 March 2013: Mark my Shelby Cobra CSX4990 SOLD! It's going to Australia. The lucky new owner saw the car on your website and*flew here to meet it in person.*Where else can a private owner have access to a potential Cobra owner in Australia? My thanks to your site's great resources (in particular, CobraCountry's self-evident 'market reach' and Curt's photography tips) for helping to connect this very distant buyer to my beautiful blue serpent! It all came down to those pictures—that's what really got him to fly halfway around the world to buy my Cobra! John Mowry

Nice car. Might want to consider adjusting the ride height a bit....

A Victorian by the looks. What are the chances of seeing it at a club meet?

I'm curious..... Can Cobra's in the USA be imported, registered and titled in Australia? You don't hear about too many SPF's in the land down under.

It's complicated.
Over simplified - You can import for club permits/plates but not full registration unless its documented over 30years old or meets Australian design rules (ADRs)

For the record there are SPFs in Aus that are fully registered.
I believe most from CTC who did all the hard work developing the kit to comply with ADRs.

If you want more specific info pm me. I'd be happy to direct you.

That is some sweet ride.
Yes Sawdust we can under specific circumstances as per Dimis post. Not sure how this one will go. Good luck to the new owner !

If you can prove ownership and show residence in the US for over a year you can also take one back to Australia when you relocate however it still needs to be converted to RH drive (unless its over 30 years) and pass ADRs through a engineer. Now that opens up possibilities other than of course an ERA which has different size foot boxes.

Wouldn't be you Bernie. Now that you have the taste for alloy bodies, I can't imagine you going back to anything so common as mere fiberglass

WOW, I must say Guardsman Blue was never a colour I would have considered. But, with those billboards it looks stunning.

Who cares if you cant register it. 90 days will never be enough, is pencil in the log books enough?! :-)

As per Dimis' comment, CTC is the Australian Superformance distributor;

Congratulations. Will you have to convert it to right hand drive or is the "replica date" considered to be the date?
