position of roll bars
help guys i'm just starting to set up to drill holes for my rollbars ,& as its a venom motor sports
yes a mr tuckers I have no reference points to go on accept 100mm from inside edge of rear cock pit [ rear fire wall ]
so do I pick centre of head rest or slightly off centre
what lay back on the hoops
level to top of wind screen ? FOR HEIGHT
as its raining// so I can dummie fit, SO as to get them cut & welded thanks a head

If you want to race it, 50mm above your helmet is the go.
Depending on your seat height that may look a bit high though.

Mine sits "high" as I wanted the 50mm above head height.
Here is an old pic showing height with original seats when I attended my first Nationals.

My understanding is that you should draw a line from the top of the roll bar to the top of the front mud guard and your helmet should be under that?
Dave - you need to slouch when you roll over 
Me I am a short arse so mine is ok :-)

Rob does your chassis any provision for mounts already, or are you truly starting from scratch here? I can go get some details off mine, just want to know what exactly I should measure.

Modena as you know we have no mounting point on the chassis .. so yes from scratching of head does apply
wazza thanks 8 degrees helps a lot
now centre of seat area or just off centre .. hoops I have are 298 mm centre/ centre of 50mm x4mm alloy hoops

Guys,
Here's the link to the CAMS regs for roll bars / cages. The 50mm detail is on page 12. Good information is worth it's weight in saved money through re-work.

If you're building a replica Cobra....build it to look like a Cobra.....
If you are building a race car...then you should follow the CAMS guidelines.
