what battery
ok i'm after a battery now so what do every one use as i;m only going to cruise & may run it around the track as a 1 off thing
so i was thinking a odessy battery [ red]
or do i get a standard battery from a ve commodore or / falcon v8
any ideas are always a help

Hows it going Rob, I went with a standard battery, as I can top up the fluid as I go, it spends a lot of time unused, and I hear that's bad for the non top up ables to be rarely used |

Rob, I just went with an ordinary sealed battery with high cca rating. If you're like me you won't have to worry about it sitting around. Every chance I get to sit my ar*e in the seat even if it is only for 10 or 15 minutes, I take it out on the road.

Get a sealed unit with correct trickle charger.
Unless the battery is easily accessed and you dont mind having to jump start it.

I agree with Box. As you're not running monster compression requiring a huge cold cranking amp rating on the battery, I'd say the trickle charger is more important than the type of battery. I use the Ctek charger and it not only maintains my car and motorbike batteries perfectly, but it also kicked an Odyssey battery into life after it had been flat and unused for 5 years. I also agree with Craig and Boxhead. I have a normal sealed battery and just put it on the trickle charger when not in use for more than a week. The battery guy told me the trickle charge is good as it discharges and charges which is better than just a straight charge approach. Seems to work fine for the last 5 years. Touch wood. Cheers Gregg

I have an Odyssey Battery and I couldn't be happier. After each drive, I turn off the battery isolation switch and can leave it for 2 to 3 months, then switch it back on and away it goes. Not a problem in the world.

do you have a separate live circuit to keep the computer alive before the isolator as I have a isolator but run a separate live just to keep the computer alive

i have a calcium battery in mine, but only because it came with it, but the date is over 6 years old, so not to bad. dont need a charger with mine, because i drive it every weekend, even in this freezing weather in albury. i think it got to a high of 11 deg c last weekend.
