Default 1:18 scale Cobra's

Hey all, I am looking at getting a Cobra model customised. So looking for a decent quality start point model.
I have a few differing brands and will see what is best compared to initial buy price.
I am looking to get a car modified by this fella https://www.facebook.com/CustomWrecks
He also has cars on ebay at times.

Looking to get a car to look similar to mine (when it is finished in Devil Yellow) but just competed at LeMans or Sebring, either finished the race poorly, or failed near the end, maybe a little battle scar from a rub against armco or another car.
Taken home, offloaded of trailer and pushed into the corner, sat there for 50 years unloved.

So If anyone has a decent detailed model, please let me know a brand, so I can search for a starting point.

Cheers all.

I would suggest Kyosho, Shelby Collectibles or Yat-Ming/Road Legends for a project like that. Ertl also made some 1:18 scale 427 Cobras, but IIRC the trunks don't open on them.

Hi Dave, I have a few different 1:18's but will have to check when I get back home for brand names. Ertl and Eagle come to mind as being decent quality and not too pricey to cut up. Haven't seen Ertl around for years though.

Cheers.
I see it is branded Kyosho, but the quality looks a lot lower compared to the ones I have at home.
Mine have seatbelts and plug leads etc.
Maybe they do a lesser version?
I am watching this one too.

in the box picture it looks to be a kyosho label, but very faded on the lower left hand corner, maybe this is an old model, as you say, quality looks a little down for a kyosho, but so is the price.

had a look at that custom wrecks page, he does some good work and the prices are pretty good to. must be bloody hard to bend the panels with out cracking them, diecast is one of the things we hate most of all at work, very hard to repair.

i had a ago with the revell plastic kit, might try agian with the colour, it's a lot closer than it looks in the photo, but one was in the shade and the model in direct light.
