dhs.buckley 08-24-2013 04:08 PM

maybe club plates? a mate has one with club plates some loop hole there i think?
Also depends how long he has been building it, ie chassis date?
mind you would be a disater i would of thought if it has not had its engineering done yet.
could be wrong though, iam sure there is a lot of people on this forum that would know the details.

Would be a good buy!!!
Ex New Zealand-Phil Ware GT40....current owner bought 3yrs ago from Queensland owner.
Most engineering done with paperwork re; Chassis, parts tests and compliance.
New Stroker 347 is a good roller put together for the current owner who races a '63 Galaxie so no doubt would be a little screamer!!!
Certainly worth a look if your after a GT  ...Owner is keen to sell, has had a recent Heart attack.

darkside 08-26-2013 02:33 PM

.holy crap if the car doesnt bite you the stress from putting one together sounds a bit harsh, poor bugger couldnt imagine getting that close and having to ditch it....then again you wake up and yur still breathing ...bonus...doc

He should have taken it.
I've seen registered GT40's go for around that money....

darkside 08-31-2013 04:02 PM

Ditto, the lowest I have seen is $90k considering all the work that goes into building one.

They're rare but if Towys referring to the same cars I'm aware of then yep I'm aware of 2. Both 65 - 75k and both qld plated and regod on carsales about 2-3 years ago. Bargain central. One red one silver grey.

dhs.buckley 09-02-2013 03:17 AM

As they say, its only worth what someone will pay for it. I see a hell of a lot of cars over priced and sit for sale for 12 months or so and suddenly they drop to lower than you would think especially when a genuine offer is on the table.

IMO the average is High side of $80k and up....I think these are now recognized by the market and also reflect where these cars are and should be when they are done well!!!

spookypt 09-02-2013 09:52 AM

While higher than the prices mentioned, the white rcr 40 that craig sold last year was offered at $90+ and sold around that. A basically brand new alloy chassis car with heaps of clever gear.

muzzza 09-02-2013 02:03 PM

Transaxle on car pictured appears to be a Renault 367 ( if it is a 4 speed ) or a 369 / UN1 ( 5 speed ) Either tranasmission will struggle with anything over 300 hp unless there are a few after market goodies in there ? Quaife do a stack of parts that make the transaxle reliable with higher hp motors.......but in standard format, they tend to break input shafts and shred spider gears with anything over 300 hp.

Craig's Gt40

Craig's Gt40 was sold on ebay after several attempts on ebay and it was sold on consignment.

It is agreed that some GT40's languish on the market for years and remain unsold.

You must be realistic in your selling price.

A current RF GT40 (space frame chassis) is priced at $126k less paint, wheels and tyres

The best GT40 are the ERA,CAV and Moody if you got the money.

Monocoque chassis is preferred to the space frame jobs.

I noticed a lot of roughly applied body filler under the dodgy guide coat on this car. You'd want to inspect that a little closer.

justcobra 09-02-2013 03:24 PM

I got a lovely set of 17 inch BRM wheels(period correct) with adapters and spinners which compliment this package ilo what is pictured.

Its a mute point i know but this is incorrect. Craig owned the car. I was going to buy a 1/2 share with Craig off the original owner but Craig bought it outright. I then had an offer in to buy it off him outright if he couldn't sell it in the time he needed to.
