You wont fit a coilover on the jag front without substantial modification. The kits that use coil overs on the jag front dont use the jag front cross member.

Did you use the 350 chev conversion springs or just shortened jag springs? The 350 chev conversion springs are softer so hence sit lower. Your other option is to use longer bolts on the lower spring retainer bracket and then put spacers in between. This will lower the car.

My car has pedders 350 chev lowered springs and although i dont have the rear springs sorted, it appears to sit perfect on the front end. The location of the motor will obviously make a difference though.

zedn mine are king k j l _ 05 so this by king springs mean lowered by 40mm so I might try yours from pedders & see
does your upper bump stop rubber sit hard against your front cross member
thanks rob

My car has xj6 S2 front end. I recently replaced my spax coilovers with QA1, but had custom made springs, as the QA1 springs did not fit.
The guys that did my springs make them to your specs. In order for mine to fit I gave them the internal diameter and external diameter allowances. '
They then dialed in the weight I specified by adjusting the number of coils according to the length of the spring (9 inches in my case) and the gauge of the wire used to make them.
Not real expensive either. Might be worth considering some custom made springs.

PS: I have spare QA1 springs if any one needs them, free to a good home.

Zedn 09-17-2013 06:11 AM

Pills what size and rate are the springs you have? I need some for the rear as the ones i have are too soft.

Does you car use the jag front cross member or just the control arms. I think only RCM and David Tucker kits use the full cross member / subframe.

Rob, when you say bump stop rubber do you mean the rubbers on the upper control arm? Mine do not sit on the subframe.

Hi Zedn.
My rear springs are 4 at 250lb each. All my springs are 9" on 12" QA1's with single adjustment.

I originally had my front ones made at 400lb each, but found them to be too stiff. I had them remade at 300lb and with the adjustable QA1, they feel about right.

Zedn 09-17-2013 07:34 PM

So the spare springs you have, what rate are they? I need some for the rear as i changed my plans half way through and have ended up with the wrong set of springs on the back. Too soft for two spring setup and too hard for four spring set up.

Pills 09-17-2013 07:57 PM

The spares I have are original QA1 springs that did not fit the front due to their OD being too big. They should fit the rear ok but the rating may be too high, if you have a twin setup on each side.
I will check for you tonight when I get home from work. From memory one set is 400lb and the other less.

renovationinnov 09-18-2013 02:31 AM

pills I would be interested as well but zedn has first shot
do you still have you shocks as well
rob

Pills 09-19-2013 03:43 AM

Hi Rob. If you mean did I keep the Spax, unfortunately no. They were leaking badly, and in pretty bad shape, not to mention they weigh a ton.

With regards to the springs, I have the following.
One pair 9" at 400lb
One pair 10" at 350lb
One pair 10" at 500lb. These might suit Zedn if he goes with a single setup.

Zedn 09-19-2013 04:41 AM

Thanks, but won't help me unfortunately. I will be running four shocks with springs around 230 - 250.

Rob, not sure if you noted what I said above, I could be wrong but I don't think you will fit coil overs on the front of your car. The cars than run jag front with coilovers don't use the full jag front end (RMC, G force, classic revival) so have more room to fit.

renovationinnov 09-20-2013 03:30 AM

well guys I got the sh#ts with all the bull from suppliers I when to the [ MAN ]
DOUG P & asked him he has give me the part numbers from pedders so im off tomorrow to pick them up
rear im going to use coil over shocks with a second shock only as doug suggested
ive weighed my corner weights & need around 260 kg each side allowing for counter lever of fuel tank
rob
now to get rear shocks & springs

Zedn 09-20-2013 05:20 AM

Was it Pedders 2044? Thats the number i gave you back in February.

Zedn 09-20-2013 05:44 AM

For the rears i have used Aldan Eagle AS654 alloy coil overs. They are jag size, competitive price and a quality product. I googled some reviews and found a lot of positive comments about there after sales service including people who sent old shocks for overhaul and weren't charged.

zedn
today I got the 2044 pedders springs & fitted them
to no avail they where 15mm shorter than the king springs so now ive got 3 sets of springs all to tall
now for set4 to next i'm 162mm from bottom of chassis to floor so lets try again
rob

Zedn 09-21-2013 03:09 AM

That's odd. Is your body on the car?

You could maybe try putting spaces under the lower spring retainer plates to see how much shorter they need to be.

renovationinnov 09-21-2013 03:56 PM

ok ive got a idea so this what im going to do standard jag springs are getting a oxy refittment then in to the car once I have the right height then back to pedders to make or find
any one after a set of new front lowered jag springs at cost price [king ] then pedders will go
rob

Zedn 09-21-2013 05:40 PM

So is the body on or off? That makes a big difference.
