up & running
today at 2pm ,,I had live in the ls1 first time start up
found 2 fuel leaks in the tank , 1 coolant leak in the bottom of the radiator but have got 20 plus kpa oil pressure at idle [ fast \] I have a question some may help it started up after priming but idled like nothing I have seen before ]it revved then settled then revved then settled for the first minute then I shut it down after checking out everything I restarted it it did the same thing over &over again then settled after going thru the gear in the auto but I now don't have park I can put it in park while running & still move [ push it back & forwards ]so any ideas would be helpful rob it,s alive :eek::eek::3DSMILE::3DSMILE::3DSMILE: |
The idle air motor will modulate up and down trying to sort out the idle.
It should start briefly rev to maybe 12-1400rpm and then settle down. Back to the auto, remove the linkage and rotate the input shaft to park. See if maybe the linkage was not adjusted correctly? |
Look do air leaks in the intake. Sound like it is struggling to correct the mixture and chasing its tail. Also check maf, map and o2 sensors. A scan for codes would also help.
Congrats on the milestone. I fired mine up for the first time on Christmas Eve. Very exciting moment! |
I think I found my first problem ,,,,no air temp sensor
GAV tried the rotation of the shaft but to no avail was in the correct stop might call an auto specialist & ask a few questions find out why the tacho is not working as well [ it might be a job for jim ] sideshow when he gets back off holidays |
Congrats on getting it running Rob!

Congratulations, big step!

Have you connected the pink pos wire for the trans?
|
park is a mechanical gear so it should not need electronics
park is when lever on gbox is all the way back plus u can always tell park position as all other gear positions are small clicks and when u click into park it is a longer click and if u had it back to front it would be in 1st when lever is in park and when u rev it it would try to drive forward sounds like parking pawl lever aint engaging |
ok ''im an idot
I was thinking as a normal person ' not a car from mr ,,tucker he has cut down the lever on the side of the box & when I thought [ again] it was in park ,the lever was hitting the electronics for the gear box so now of to the wreckers to find the right lenth arm [ shift lever ] you got to love mr .*#@*tucker I have moved the arm & have park thanks guy again |
An aftermarket shifter will have the appropriate length operator arm included with it.
|
just remember the holdens have two lots of D's on the shifter
so u need a std comm shifter or one with a 4 gate system not a 3 gate system b&m shifters have a pin which u remove to switch from 3 to 4 gate |
now for the next problem to solve
I bought a lokar shifter & electrics so to solve all problems no wrong again I fitted it as per instructions but to my misfortune the park seams to move each time I adjust it so under the car I go with spanner in hand to tighten the linkage & find that the box shift shaft will rotate to any position which but where it is meant to be so park can be vertical or horizional at any time after you run it thru tis gears selection any thoughts as to WHY!!!! ROB |
I reckon your box is shagged :(
|
well its back to the auto services to get them to re check & fix it as they should under warranty
there check & pre fitment was said no over haul need ,,only major service so another set back to over come |
u cant trust auto trans shops heheeh
I had a spit at one of them bloody charged a customer 700 bucks to check auto and do up converter the stupid dickhead didn't know much about Toyota gboxes and tested it with no electronics so I told him in a very loud voice how these gboxes work and with no electronics how the hell could he have checked the box hehehehe its not the repairing of the box that's the issue its the fact a shop has to remove it and refit it again at customers expense I swear there is fk all good automotive trades people around these days |

I had my auto seviced in a 5 litre fairlane years ago, i said to the bloke did you change fluids and filters? to which he replied yes, i then asked him how did you do it with out taking the pan off? i did he said,
i said, well why is there a piece of cow **** that runs over the pan, old gasket and gearbox? he finally admitted he had just sucked the fluid out and hadnt changed the filters. |
And the further north you go.....the servicing gets worse.
|
well I rang this guy about the problem & guess what he said
that it was my fault for touching it to adjust it & fix the problem he needs to pull the box at my cost , then solve the problem at my cost as he only serviced & checked internals for damage or wear iii asked so what did he move it thru the range of selection by the shifter here is the best ...............it electronic & it shifts electronically & park is electronically activated by the shifter so there is no linkages then I told him so why does mine have a selector shaft & linkages off the side of it he hung up on me so I rang back & was told that I had touched it & now had no warranty I said consumer affairs have a different point a view on that ...... he hung up again assh.......o.....l....e any one recommend a good auto repairer north side Redcliffe way |
