RF GT40 first outing
Was a great day.....Had a 100km trip in the 40. The Chittering loop has lots of winding roads and hills and valleys ...it's first official finished drive.......The roar of the 8 stack.....how sweet are those trumpets. banging gears at 6200rpm.....I am really happy with the RF , it has a solid feeling on the road and very point and squirt. Next is some upgrades and a Supersprint or track day.

There is nothing like the sound of an 8 Stack at full noise 6 inches behind your head...

That is a very nice looking GT-40 and I can just imagine how happy you are. Great work on it too. You did a great job.

Mate, she's a beauty !
I still contend its one of the best GT's ever built. I've been in a bunch of other replica GT's and I'm always happy to get back in mine.
I hope you never get tired of her.

Is the heatshielding the same type of material as fitted to the XR6 Turbos (if you've seen inside a Ford engine bay)?
Did you buy it from a national retailer?
Is it hard to form to shape?
Thanks!

Yes, it is. It's called 'ACL Heat Shielding'. Boxhead's link is what I bought too for another car I used to own.
It's very bendable.

Is a lovely piece of kit..
Re the heat shield question.. try VPW in Aus.. they have a similar shielding material which can be worked into a range of shapes.
Cheers

Yes same as ford . Very bendable and firm. I am taking it off as the pit exhaust made a lot of heat......it works very well....i got it from autopro i think.

I'm looking for some heat shielding that I can shape up inside the tunnel and under my foot boxes. What's the name of the product you used? Autopro doesn't appear to have a store in metro Melb.
