Default Aussie Cars make my Brain Hurt

Here's a piece by Chris, a fine car guy that knows his history.

It is a pity that the photo of the AU XR8 has been bastardised....The AU Falcon did not have scoops on the bonnet as depicted in the photo. I dare say that someone has grafted them from the bonnet of a Holden

Here is the Falcon

and this is the Holden with scoops

Nice to see some outside appreciation for our cars. Not sure that all V8 models will be replaced with 4 cylinders by 2017 though.

Chris wanders the internet but I have found his history on cars very accurate especially with ones from the US. I know bits and pieces about certain models from your country but never examined it.

Probably going to have to rent a bunch of SUV's when visiting. Any muscle cars or any sporty models that the rental companys offer? I know Hertz in the UsA offer the dream car and adrenaline car collection.

Both Avis and Hertz in Australia - their options - are limited to the average unit production runs. A real focus on the smaller sedans that are four seat and reasonable luggage space.

The two person options of the small four cylinder cars make up 80% plus of rentals with the majority being single person or couples booking them. Toyota sedans and Hyundai's etc.

Luxury and prestige are the Caprice (US Caddy)

The 4 wheel drives here are the Mitsubishi vehicles.

We don't offer those big Chevrolet multi seat.

Mmmm .. .. And sorry no adrenaline GT Fords or GMH SS or HSV cars.

There are a few limited rental companies where hire of performance cars is an option, but they operate out of central Sydney and Melbourne. Quite limited in models such as the Carrera Porsches and M series BMW.

Hey if you get over here we can just pick you up in a Cobra for a few hour adrenalin trip for a beer or two..

I just confirmed - re checked my booking - for California next April.

I have a V8 Mustang convertible for my son and I. It is a V8 not the 6...

I tried to get a Corvette and found them available, but they were only in a convertible that has no luggage space...

The tin top would have been ideal as the luggage space under the rear glass would have taken our two medium suitcases.

I just wanted to drive the later model Corvette.
