the new owner told me he hadn't had it all that long and its his 3rd cobra over many yrs he has grand kids now and cant fit them all in for a drive . he sounds like he is a trucky from what I could gather and doesn't get a chance to drive it very often as well.

he is going to email me the engineers reports so I can run them by our rego sept and see if I can get away with a full engineering again and just a safety and engine and vin number check hopefully.

As far as the side pipes are concerned I don't recall it being too loud. I cant remember the details of the exhaust system but I have a vague recollection of a muffler in there somewhere though my memory may be getting influenced thinking of Icetoo's, which definitely has an interesting exhaust system.
(I looked at both when I was searching for a car a few years back).

Here is a shot of Steve's car at W/Wyalong Nats in '99?

Well as Tim the Tool Man says, seems I was w-w-w-wr-wr-wro-wrong

Its uncanny that these two cars are so similar, even the same colour interior, same style and size wheels. Even the same little glass indicator. I'm sure Steve even has white gauges.
Differences I see are, paint does seem more red and wheels are actually silver on the one for sale, head rest is different shape, different pipes, different headlight bezels.
Could actually be a face lift but not likely.

exhaust collectors are different and exhaust tip is on a different angle too

What about this one Deano

1997 AC Cobra

RMC, auto, very tidy great price, leaves some change to personalise. It originally came from interstate, not sure where, though we can find out.

I haven't seen it in the flesh for over 5 years but its looking very tidy.

have seen that add David and that will be the next one I enquire about. certainly the price is pretty good and leaves room for a soft top too be made im not sure I love the colour and he ks are getting up there compared too other cars out there , the auto is a bonus for me as well .

Those "SHELBY" rego plates would fetch a pretty penny. It says SHELBY in the listing but has normal ACT plates in some of the photos - you'd want to check that.

David Hodgson 06-19-2014 08:09 PM

It's listed that rego expires in April '14 so may have taken the plates off?

Legless 06-19-2014 08:41 PM

Steve and Ursula have had a number of cobras. Their last cobra was not that bronze one, their last cobra is much closer to red. I'll go back later and have another look at the advert. I think they have had three cobras over the years.

Wow - its almost like one was copied off the other. The lack of any bodywork under the sidepipes without the bezel looks to be a give away and possibly the most unlikely thing that could have been changed.

Beejay 06-19-2014 11:07 PM

Pretty sure Steve and Ursula have only ever had one car. It has been rebuilt a couple of times though.

Ben

Legless 06-20-2014 03:16 AM

Aww crap! You're right Ben I'm talking a load of sh$&! I'm thinking of Atchison's car not Steve and Ursula's car, both cars were at my place on the same day a couple of years ago. Anyway there's another nice car that is probably for sale. lol Apologies all.

Cobra.au 06-23-2014 11:35 PM

Hi Deano,
My Cobra is on the market (only advertising by word of mouth) send me a PM if interested and I will send you some details.

deano59 08-13-2014 08:09 PM

just going thru my camera I found a pic of the damage on the sill panel that apparently no one had noticed before . this was the yellow cobra we flew down to Tassie and wasn't even allowed a test drive .. sorry about the pic quality . my point is if you was selling a car along with the big stone chips in the paint would you not get this repaired to try and get max dollars or just leave and hope the buyer to be is blind and doesn't see it \
cheers dean

yeah I was only going to try and show the pic of the damage I found on my camera but it wouldn't load sorry if my post seems to upset you some how I think I shall just slink away and keep quite from now on ....I can see why this is such a slow moving forum your more interested in shooting down anyone who haven't actually got a cobra yet and who dares to ask . funny enough I found the same boys club attitude when I built my first cobra good to see nothings changed since I first joined here in 2001 .. at least when I had my gtr skyline and was the oldest bloke on the site I was made to feel welcome and not belittled and ridiculed like a few of the members on here have made me feel ..

sambo 08-14-2014 04:30 AM

Deano say it like it is, no problem there. But when you update us on your hunt to find a unicorn, sorry Cobra, remember we've already heard the story about the idiot in Tasmania who took you for a ride. If there's a photo on your camera then upload it and we'll have something to talk about. And before you bag out this forum, didn't you see the posts above from Greg and Craig W?

ive tried several times to upload it but I get a upload failed message so I gave up .sorry unicorn ? I guess that's your turn to take the piss out of me as well ? I just unloaded a few pics off my cam yesterday and found one of the damage I found on the cobra I wasn't trying to flog a dead horse at all just wanted to show what I had tried to describe to you guys what I had found nothing more nothing less .
I did not expect to get ridiculed for it just thought a few might have found it interesting . there are some great blokes on here that I chat with in pm quite often on here as well as other means fb ect . but there is a element of old boys club on here who seem to resent newbies per say . funny tho ive been on here a lot longer than most first joined in 2001 :-) . to the guys that have helped with advice and given me heads ups on cars thanks I appreciate it . to others who find delight in putting people down I feel sorry and pity you . I feel my search is coming to a end for my perfect cobra lets just leave it at that for now :-) I will refrain from posting as I feel ive been targeted recently and will only post out of absolute need . cheers deano
