I've been to the Festival of Speed a few times, beginning in about 1994 - not long after it all kicked off. It is magical! The atmosphere at Goodwood really is something else.

The Revival meeting has a similar feel. If anything, it is sensory overload - too much to see, hear, smell... But what an experience!

I'd love to go along this year. The Can Am cars are some of my very favourite. However, other factors are likely to intervene.

I did get to go to Goodwood! My wife won tickets for the Friday practice session. My friend and I had a great time, although there were long periods with no action on the track. Still, it cost us nothing to get in.

There was a 427 Cobra there. I didn't examine it in minute detail but it looked like a genuine 1960s car. Of course, it could have been a Shelby CSX4000-series or a Kirkham car. It was white with a black hood. It looked and sounded wonderful! I couldn't identify the owner.

The Mk.2 Le Mans 24 hours car was there - "39 PH." I have seen the car before and it was great to see it again. I think this was the genuine car from the great endurance race, although there are some very good replicas around. But Goodwood seems to bring out the really historic stuff, so let's give it the benefit of the doubt!

Paul you've had the entree, the Festival, now get along to the main course, the Revival in September, and prepare to have your mind well and truly blown ...

^^ True enough!

I went to the Revival a couple of years ago. Talk about sensory overload! I did not know which way to turn! It was a very enjoyable event.

Tickets are very expensive, though. I'd rather go see ten clubby motorsport events for the same price than go to Goodwoodevery year. Mind you, I shall go back every few years.

I assume you've been to Goodwood, Donunder?

Yep, with my son in 2012 for the Cobra 50th celebrations.
I hope to get back there one more time.
