Default This Could Start a Good Discussion

Interesting snippet from Barn Finds
Could This Cobra Really Be Real?

Cheers

I highly doubt it Russell. The body looks remarkably like fibreglass to me, although that doesn't explain the rivets along the rear cowl.

But what a crappy 'restoration'. Stevie Wonder could spray paint better than that.

Very hard to tell but as well as the rivets, it appears to have dents in the doors and around the quick jack area as well as the R/H rear flare which indicate an alloy body.
If they are right in it having a COB chassis number, my limited knowledge and some Googling tells me it is an AC with RHD built for the UK market so not a Shelby. Still worth something though. Those pedals have done some work.

Cheers

Russell

Interesting stuff Russell!
Mark IV, thanks for that extra info. It goes to show that as disgusting as the current white paint is, it used to look even worse! Interesting to know that the rego is linked to a Ford Zodiac from 1964. Oops...

I can't zoom in on the chassis number far enough, but it looks like the plate shows a COB or COX chassis number. That'd give the final answer, but it's a mystery to understand how an alloy bodied car could look so off and have been treated so poorly. Race car patina is super cool, but this is way off the mark...

What ever it is or isn't, what a god awful restoration.
