+\- $1500 bucks. My shed guy actually said this am that it was now another 1k due to more council hurdles to jump. I got a relaxation on boundary plus had to due a bit more to satisfy land slip.

Doors going in as we speak. Spent 13hrs on the rake on satdy cleaning up the place. Hard yakka.

spookypt 12-21-2014 08:23 PM

Well, its come to an end. My shed build is finished. Sure, I have power and hoist and landscaping to go but the backbone of my thread topic is now complete so I won't continue to bore you with all that.

Here's 2 final pics to show you how it all ended up. We hung the 4 doors this morning. ! x commercial chain driven jobby and 2 electric opening side doors with a manual door on the side. I'm quite happy with the result. I wanted to compliment and add to the overall properties feel and I think its done that. I'll let you all be the judge.

Thanks for watching my thread.

Excellent result Spooky.

Please don't let it end here. I'm sure I speak for all when I say we all want to see the fit out and some cars and stuff in there.

Cheers

Great job Matty.....very well thought out, and executed....you should be very proud of the result.

Looks great Matt!

That driveway is great too. Well worth it...

750hp 12-22-2014 05:34 AM

Well done mate, looks fabulous!

guye 12-22-2014 02:13 PM

Top effort that. And I still can't believe the grass on the bank. It would take me months to grow that down here!

Compliments the property nicely Matt. Well done.

Donunder 12-22-2014 03:25 PM

Matt for some reason from your progress pictures I had the impression the shed was going to be down around behind the house partially out of sight, but your finished shot destroys that idea! How imposing does it look? And how beautifully does it complement the house? Quite a rarity in house/shed combinations. Great job!

Now when I look at the setting, all Queensland lush tropicality, secluded, ringed by mountains, a ginormous shed, powered, my over-imaginative mind turns to thoughts of .... hydroponics? .... nah, just joking.

The shed, although it's really too grand an edifice to be called just a "shed", looks superb. And I know you've only just got the thing finished and you haven't had time to catch your breath and you've probably got these on your "to be installed" list anyway, but with our climate I'd have three or four big whirlybirds up on the ridgeline.

Looks tremendous and does compliment the house nicely.

Now go and relax after all that hard yakka and practise your handbrake turns at the driveway fork - lol

spookypt 12-22-2014 04:34 PM

Thanks everyone for your kind and encouraging words.

Don I have to say on a 30 + degree day with the roof height at nearly 5metres and the insulation its still quite liveable. If it gets to a point I will probably do something a little different from most and install open/close electric louvers next to the acrylic sheets in the uprights of the central section. That way I'll get heat extraction AND breezes as well.

And yeah, it not hidden. Its fairly imposing as you drive up my easement but not overpowering. I reckon if I had of made it as big as I'd originally planned it would have been TOO big from a visual perspective.

As I make further significant progress I'll post and update or two for sure.

I agree the height does make a big difference. I think mine is about 5.5 M at the peak and on a 30+ day it is quite bearable. With all 3 doors open you get some air circulating too.

Cheers

The last shed that we built had a raised section on the ridge capping. Allows a lot of room to breathe and expel the hot air. Doesn't matter in winter, never gets below zero so keeping the warmth in is not a priority. Great shed build Matty!

For those who've been watching the fires on the sunny coast, yep our House and shed full of toys all nearly burnt to the ground yesty. Got the fam and passports out yesty after forced evacuation and spent today putting out spot fires all day. It's now raining and Thankfully all saved.
Hmm maybe a move back to the beach is warranted!

spookypt 01-21-2017 01:01 AM

I can't post on iPhone but my album2014 has a pic as I sent the fam off with fire coming. Someone may be able to post it up for me if interested.

Holly sheeeeet!!! That's a little to close for comfort.

We flew out of brissy yesterday and we're at the Sunshine Coast the day before purchasing our Mini Cooper. Glad we got out, and glad to hear all is well with you, and your family. Having experienced the fires here in Melb a few years back, they're awfully scary.

SydneyChris 01-21-2017 03:02 AM

good to hear there was no collateral damage Spooky...!

albanycobra 01-21-2017 06:07 AM

Sheet Spooky Fires are scary. Best to leave to the Experts.
Glad you're all ok.

spookypt 01-22-2017 04:49 PM

This is my neighbours house. Spent all day Saturday putting out spot fires around his and others houses. Had my quad bike loaded with rake and 60 litres of water and we sprayed and raked the crap out of the place to stop it crossing the road. The firies, rangers and RFB were all awesome and they allowed us to maintain our patch of road while they battled on the more serious stuff down the road.

Apart from the obvious seriousness of the day the only negative was the fuzz pulling me over with lights flashing as I slowly raced down the footpath on my quad to put out another spot fire wanting to cross the road. He got out chest puffed asking what I thought I was doing....I pointed at my quad, my now black and singed overalls, high viz vest, goggles and mask and then flushed the soot from my face and nose with rectal abandon and a few your Fing kidding me's to ensure he understood my thoughts on his chest puff.

He got the message and wished me well but the attitude just stuck in my claw. Certainly having just pulled in 60metres of fire hose off the firies truck I failed to see his side of the law abiding story.

Apart from that a great result and this time we all had a very close shave as you can see.

Im 5 mins from the beach. Who'd a thought!
