Finally found a set of sidepipes that looked pleasing to me and at a good price

Dean
they are from Grand exhaust pipe co in China. They are sold as active pipes but I am using them for decoration only. They have a 3 inch perforated tube down the guts so might be a little loud if they were hooked up.

Awesome Doug. I've been eyeing those off for a while, but wasn't sure what the quality was like. So you reckon they're ok? I think I've got a group buy happening to save some shipping if they are good. Would you mind telling me the overall length of them?

They certainly look the part. Your car looks a treat.

Also bear in mind if you want to run them live that the primaries are only 1 7/8" and not 2 inch

Doug, have you ever investigated laying your windscreen back a little bit? Other than the appearance then looking a little more "authentic" (if that floats your boat), you might be surprised at the difference in wind buffeting.

I had an RMC some time ago that had to be rebodied. The panel shop installed the windscreen at what appeared to be a very similar angle to yours. I asked them to lay it back by nearly 3" (to where it had previously sat) and the difference in wind noise and buffeting was amazing. It took a bit of work to make the adjustment, but for me it was well worth it.

If you like the current windscreen angle and don't have wind buffeting at the moment, kindly disregard all of the above...!

Craig, its not that simple. With my height and the seats I am currently using it needs to be at that angle. Until I can get a seat that sits lower and is also comfortable for Lillian to sit in..............it is what it is!

Doug

Ben mine were around $800 to the door

Craig, I was thinking the exact same thing, but didn't want to be the first to bring it up! IMHO, it would look so much better laid back as you suggest. I hate to say it, but it looks too much like a dune buggy screen atm.

Ouch !
C'mon Simon...play nice.

You DO get it that LETSBOOGIE351 can read what you write on here....right ?

In any case....
Letsboogie351 , it's a very nice Cobra.....and if you do get a chance to lay the screen back a bit...you'll benefit from two things.
1. Less wind noise for sure.
2. Less chances of windscreen breaks....mine is waiting for it's THIRD windscreen in 19 months on the road.

Not a big "plug" for the Pace427... But one of the first things I noticed on the body shape etc.,was how laid back the screen sits....much quieter in the wind, and I would guess..less chances of copping hits direct from rocks and things.

New pics on our Facebook, shows what I mean.

Cheers....Merry Xmas.

Warren.

Paint works

Give it up,
it amazes' me how once you become a builder that you have CARTE BLANCHE to criticise completed projects even after an explanation has been supplied as to why the windscreen is, what it is.

Geez, relax guys.

All I did was agree with Craig.

I think it's a very nice car overall that Doug has built, but the windscreen position was just my honest opinion. I'm sorry that you don't like that I voiced my thoughts. I'm sure some people will not like how I will build/equip my Cobra. But what I do know is that I certainly won't tell them to pi55 off if they don't agree with my style choices. That's their prerogative: I respect that everyone has their opinion good or bad, and they are entitled to that without being condemned.

Fair enough Doug, that's totally understandable.
A few guys have opened my eyes lately to what's possible as far as getting tall people into little cars. OZVENOM converted Dad's (Donunder's) Cobra from floor mount to hanging pedals and dropped the floor nearly 4". With some previous mods to create additional room at the front of the footbox, it now means that anyone under 6' could not reach the pedals, let alone actually drive it.

Leroy17 worked some magic on his previous Harrison to get the driver/passenger sitting "in", not "on" the car. This made a staggering improvement. I think he'll be doing the same with another car soon.

I guess I'm saying that anything is possible if you want to get seat and floor mods done. Again, if it's not of interest or not a priority, it's all good.

Now back to the exhaust, $800 delivered for a set of stainless side pipes is a killer price! I reckon there will be a few people following your lead with those!
