Am I just being overly optimistic or do some of those cars look as though they're being reclaimed?

The 300SL with the highly desirable Rudge wheels looks salvageable, and the Daytona doesn't look too far gone. And surely the early Ferraris would have been snapped up at auction after these shots were taken. What a crime to let them deteriorate to this extent.

That Daytona is CSX2287. It was owned by an eccentric woman who had it in storage for decades, but it is now in a museum near Philadelphia PA.

If you have never heard the story ... CSX2287

Many of those are old pics, some have been rescued.
The Green Winged Aero car sadly still sits in the same spot.

I hate to see the old cars rust away. Unfortunately we have many places here in the states that people have a lot of them just setting in fields rusting away and they won't sell on for any amount of money.

This Daytona is the only fully US built one and was raced by Pete Brock at Daytona and driven to numerous speed records at Bonneville by Craig Breedlove.Phil Spectre the crazy music video producer ( and murderer) owned it and it was his daily drive until it was parked in a garage.
I think this links to the add that he purchased it from
