Who do you let drive your Cobra ?

Take 'em for a ride and show 'em how fast it really is. Most people have no idea what these cars are capable of. They likely won't want to drive it after that. These cars can be lethal in the wrong hands. Even my buddies that we race with are surprised at how quick mine is. I know how fast it can swap ends. I wouldn't want to be responsible for their deaths.

This thread reminds me of a very well-off guy in a nearby town. Upon his son's 16th birthday he presented the kid with the keys to a new Viper. The kid promptly went out and wrapped it around a pole, killing himself and injuring his passenger. I wonder if the father would do it again.

My wife has driven it once, and my father borrows it occasionally maybe once or twice a year.

I think it depends on a number of things, like how long you have had the

car and how powerfull it is.

No one drove my Cobra at first, but after a while I let some people drive it

with me, then I let trusted people drive it alone, have done for a long time now.

I let people drive my Daytona, BUT normally after a few k's they want to swap for

the Cobra

I have just let one of my 5 brothers drive mine on the weekend ,, with me in the passengers seat for the second time the only other person was the certifying engineer
my 4&half sit on my lap while drive up & down the drive way but that's no really driving it [[but don't tell her that]
my wife doesn't want to drive it as{{ its only a car }} her words

I've offer the wife to drive the Cobra. She said "No Way" do I want to drive that monster. My 30 year old son, who has owned and driven a few Hi-Perf cars has been allowed to drive the Cobra, but, only after an instructional drive with me and some fundamental words on how one of these cars behave. He did Good !!!! Other then that, no one has the "B-lls" to ask me to drive my car.

My son with me inside, even though he is 33 sometimes he is a hotdogger, my wife can't reach the pedals but I am a bit hesitant because she is a hot footer. Last but not least my best friend whom have helped me with the car as a retired auto tech teacher.

I prefer not to be precious about mine. I've let a few people drive including someone from this forum id just met. They are not that hard to drive unless you want to give it some jandall and most are pretty timid if they have a go.

Funny you should bring this up when you did. Last weekend I met up with a friend of a friend and chatted for about a couple of hours about his Cobra build. He then took me for a short drive. We ended up at a café for a coffee but it had recently closed. When we returned to the car he tossed me the keys. Needless to say, I drove it like a Nanna. Combination of bumpy roads, traffic, more power than I had ever seen, fear of crashing his pride and joy and fear of the insurance dramas. We then swapped back and he showed me what it was capable of. To quote the Hamster "I think a little bit of wee came out..." I was so impressed with the power and the grip. Thanks to Geoff in Canberra for the experience. It was great to get an appreciation of the feel, height, narrow footwell, unlimited visibility, heavy steering (only when slow), heavy brakes, gorgeous sound, wind in the hair pants on fire feel etc. Loved every second of it. I'M HOOKED!!!!!

Well, my wife expressed interest a couple of times and when she jumped into the drivers seat, as I suspected, she couldn't reach the pedals. I'm not sure if she heard my sigh of relief ..... phew ...but of course I sympathised with her on the outside ��

providing they're over 60 and have written permission
from their grandparents.

My Wife used to drive my old red G Force Cobra all the time....i think she put more miles on it than me........

I've been thinking about this issues all through the build. I am at the go-kart stage right now shaking out some issues, one of which is that the throttle is sticking a little when it is floored. I know how to fix it but that's one thing that I just haven't fixed yet. My brother came over Sunday to look at the car for the first time in the go-kart stage. Against my better judgment I asked if he want to take it around the block. I told him about the throttle issue and he assured me that he would keep it in 1st and not push it. I was in the passenger seat when all of a sudden he floors it. Of course the throttle stuck wide open and he started to panic. Long story short, I shut it down with the battery kill switch. He was visibly shaken. I asked why he did it and he had no answer. I told him because of this situation that he has forever killed the chance of ANYONE ever being able to drive the car. By the way, I have a 408 stroker by Keith Craft putting out 512 hp.
