15" Tyres.

Thanks for the pic Craig. Could you run a tape over the front and rear tyres and give me the measurements from the very top to the very bottom of both front and rear please. I want to compare the rolling diameter of yours to what I currently have on my car. The reason that I'm making this request is that at the moment, I am running 17" Vintage Pin Drive HA Series rims shod with 255/45 front and 315/35 rear Sumitomos. I'm not happy with the look of the rears as they don't go any where near filling the wheel arches. You can't buy any 315/17's, regardless of the brand, with a decent wall. Most have a fairly low profile. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...all_Large_.jpg I'm contemplating some Vintage 15" Pin Drive HA Series rims and Avon CR6ZZ's, but I need those measurements to compare. Hope to hear from you soon. Baz |
Baz,
Here's the best Avon information available...except for Craig's measurements of course CR6ZZ | Avon Motorsport Cheers, Glen |
Baz, sorry mate - that was just a photo I grabbed from a discussion on the net about the exact tyre sizes that are being discussed here. Can't help you with real world measurements. I'd love that car though and I like the colour - there are too many red cars in the family at the moment!
The only option I can think of in a taller 17" for you is the M&H Racemaster, which is offered in a 325/45/17 size - the centre pair of tyres. Never mind the outside pair, they're an inch shorter than your current front tyres... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...4&d=1355420364 This is about a 28" tall tyre, so it may be too tall. It certainly wouldn't be too wide. M&H can't really grasp the concept of accuracy or consistency in the widths. Here's a comparison of the M&H 325/45/17 against a 295/50/15 tyre. Definitely taller (roughly 28" to 26"), but narrower! http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/da...m/IMG_1335.JPG They're a cheaper tyre than the Avon, but there would be no doubt the Avon would be a much more accomplished tyre. |
