Thanks everyone for the support.
Anyone know if I need a certain brand or make of windscreen frame for the CR body?

Modena 06-29-2015 05:33 AM

The windscreen that Ian can supply comes from Brasscraft in the uk. You can get from Ian or get direct from Brasscraft.

Gav 06-29-2015 04:17 PM

Any cobra windscreen will suit the CR, everyone I know have used different brands.
AP may be able to supply you one.

Aussie Mike 06-29-2015 09:59 PM

I got mine from Europa spares in the UK.

Welcome to the forum e-clip. Plenty of square tube CR support available on here.

Cheers

Are the screens mostly the same? I know there was a place in WA that made the frames and fitted the glass. Surely one of the Local Mobs could supply?

Tenrocca 07-01-2015 03:03 PM

I bought mine off Ian and it is a very good quality unit - there are possibly a few cheaper versions out there but the one he sells is very nice.

Lots of CR's on the forum - they are a very good car (I may be biased) having won King cobra, queen cobra, shelbyfest etc. There are some worthwhile mods you can make, especially the rear suspension toe arm mod - virtually eliminates any rear bump steer. Makes a huge difference. Aussie Mike can make you up a set if he's not too busy :)

If you want to see some quality square tube CR builds, check out Mando's, Mikes, or PhilM's gallery's.

Cheers

I agree all great cars.

Aussie Mike 07-01-2015 06:45 PM

When I got my screen years ago there was a real hole in the market. The local Aussie bloke that was making them had retired and the only option was to source one from overseas. Sounds like there are some new local options available now.

Cheers

I am biased as well but I am very happy with my squared tube CR.
It has its little querks but thats half the fun of building it and tinkering with it.

Us square tubed CR boys are extremely fortunate to have Mike the master of everything when it comes to improving our machines, a more passionate and helpful person you will not meet. So if you have any problems and we can't help you with rest assured Mike has already dealt with it.

Enjoyed the build as frustrating as it maybe sometimes but rest assured when its finished nobody will be able to wipe the smilie from your face every time you drive it.

Nice 'screen. That actually looks tinted.....

Aussie Mike 07-02-2015 06:14 PM

Tinted ones were an option when I bought mine from Europa. I didn't think it would be legal down here though. The glass had a green tinge to it.

Here's the green tinted one:

Here's the regular one:

That's some very kind words Rod but you've gone and set the bar very high for me to live up to.

e-clip, I have a CR rear bump steer on the shelf if you are interested. I knocked up a few last time and there is one left. I probably won't be making any more till after my car is back on the road.

Cheers

e-clip 07-02-2015 07:41 PM

Yes please mike I'm very interested in the bump steer kit and anything else you have on shelf that I could use

Aussie Mike 07-02-2015 08:22 PM

Here's some detail on the bump steer kit.

Bump Steer kits

You may want to talk to your engineer before fitting it. He may want to see the original track rod setup from the Ford AU installed. I don't have an engineers report for my kit but I can supply a before and after bump steer graph from my car.

The kit is all high quality materials. 1" diameter chrome molly tube, Chrome molly rod ends and Grade 8 and grade 12.9 hardware. The clevis is machined from 1020 Bright steel bar stock. There is no doubt in my mind, It's stronger than the original track rod.

Cheers

Gav 07-02-2015 08:40 PM

If you drive a CR with the kit fitted from the word go you won't know what the fuss is about, but believe me, if you drive one without you will be very happy with the improvement.
The rear feels quite nervous without it fitted.

I have the green tinted screen
