I only have spray on stoneguard inside and under mine.
The Billboards really pick up a lot of stones and I live rural so roads are covered in a lot of loose stones. I hear them peppering inside my guards all the time, yet to have any evidence of a star crack on the outside of my car. The CR body is very thick. |
Thanks Boxhead. I was a bit worried about rocks. I will make up a cover for the fuel regulator tho in the wheel well.

I purchased some rubber floor matting from the big Green Shed, cut it into about 300mm wide strip and glued it to the inside of the guards, 15000Ks later and no problems.

Hi
Anyone got some helping instructions on installing and modifying the Ford door lock brackets? Thanks |
You will need to mod them a bit to get them to work with either a pull cord or latch on the inside of the door.
I had a latch and it was pretty straight forward from memory. I just welded a bolt to the catch mechanism and had a alloy knob that lifted up to open the door. |
i just fitted [pedjero rear door handles to mine using stainless steel cables in the door cavity to operate the latch from the handles

Hi e-clip, looks like you've been making good progress. I have loved what I've seen and read. Well done. I know I'm probably a bit late with this having not been on here for a long time, but I'd be happy to help you also as best as I can. Feel free to give me a call. I don't mind testing the memory, it keeps me on my toes! Haha.
I have the old manual if the guys have'nt already provided one. Keep up the good work and good luck with your build. Cheers, Dan. |
Thanks for the windscreen Dan. It's starting to look more like a car and not just some parts hahaha.
Anyone got some tips on installing the windscreen ? I don't want a lop side wind screen Hahaha.... |

Looking at these wheels a modem take on the original cobra wheels. What do you guys think ? Any suggestions on size and offset for a square CR would be great help. Dan has suggested 10 wide and 7.5" backspace rear and 8 wide 5.5" back space front. |
These equate to a 3.5" front space from and back, which is exactly what I have, although my rears are 9.5's. Wouldn't want to go out any further and makes sure you have the body centred really well on the chassis.
Im planning on 15's this year, narrowing the rear so I can use the off the shelf Team 3 one piece or Factory five wheels with a little more dish. Will need a new front hub to bring in the fronts 0.25" and ford stud pattern and they should bolt right on. |
