Default Rmc

Thank you both for sharing the information, I am on a steap learning curve so all the more info the better.

Has anyone heard of the replica motor company RMC, I have tried to contact them to no avail. I have been told they are no longer at there old premises in WA. Has anyone heard anything regarding this company?

Leroy,

It may be worth talking to Neil Streeting of Street N Track. Unit 18, 13 to 15 Burns Road, Heathcote NSW. Telephone 9520-5006.

He knows all about the older kits, and can assist in getting a car ready for engineering and emissions testing.

Cheers,
Ben

Default RMC History

Hi Leeroy,

Replica Motor Company (RMC) has been around since somewhere in the mid 80's and in its day, was one of the 'better' kits available. There has been a lot of evolution in Cobra kits since then, but they are still considered a good kit even by today's standard.

They use a typical ladder style chassis with the earlier using a single perimeter chassis rail and the latter from early 90's using a twin perimeter chassis rail for better chassis stiffness. They used Jag front and rear suspension components mounted to points built into the chassis rather than the whole cross member and cradle sections from the Jag, 2 coil over shocks up front and 4 at rear. Many have experimented with reconfiguring the rear set up to use just 2 shocks or mount the brakes outboard. Cleveland power seemed to be the most common. This chassis and the Clevo's make them a bit more lush than the average cobra - about 1200 to 1250kg.

This same basic ladder chassis was common then and also used by G-Force, Classic Glass Cars, W.E. Sports Cars(Wooley/Evans) to name a few.

Body shape is good, but like most - not spot on, a bit droopy in the rear like the G-Force.

The company was started by motorsport enthusiast Mike Moylan, in Kellerberrin, country WA, who's main business is grain silo manufacturing. The company lulled for a fair few years but I believe is now in new hands is fairly active and located at 3/14 Fargo Way Welshpool, suburban Perth. Try them on 08 9356 1415. Is this the No. you've been trying?

They are a well designed, basic honest car, just missing some of today's evolution refinements.

A bit of Googling reveals they are apparently the Australian Dealer for the UK based Westfield, and are also developing a Daytona. That info from the Westfield UK site. Hoping it's still current
