Default Another Pace Build

Hey Guys. Been following this forum for a while now reading and learning as much as I can. I am just in the process of buying Pace #37 from Muzza that was for sale on this site. I Pick the car up Monday and tow it and all the parts back to Sydney to continue the build. Murray has made a good start to the project and I am looking forward to getting the car and continuing the build.

Have most of the parts already and pretty much whatever else I need has been order from Wazza and Craig.

I want to thank Warren and Craig for sorting out my order for all my options when I lobbed on the factory door step the day after they got back from nationals. They were very generous with their time and were happy to answer my questions.

I will be doing a build blog, mainly for my own benefit so I have a record of the build, at davescobrabuild.wordpress.com.

I am also sure I will be trying to pick a few brains along the way as this is all new to me but have a electrical trade background.

Will upload some photos when I work out how to and also get started on the build.

Hey welcome Dave, I'm sure you'll be happy with your purchase and build. Tell us what your plans for are for colour, wheels etc. what lured you to a Cobra?

Unfortunately I don't have the expertise that Murray was going to bring to the build. I am going to go back to standard kit setup. I am still planning on making the car as best I can with my own touch. Hopefully I will do it justice.

I hope Muz told you about some of the stuff he's built over the years - fascinating to hear about!

You've bought a great starting point and everyone will be very interested to hear what you have in mind for the build. Drivetrain, paint, wheels etc.

Congrats again on the purchase.

Welcome Dave and congrats on acquiring Muz's start :-)

A few of us have already adopted some of Muz's recommendations, so you've got a great build already.

And welcome to the Pace fold...

Very nice pick up Dave.
This was on the way to becoming one of the outstanding Pace cars of the next few years. Murray has built some interesting cars during his lifetime and his innovation and work quality has always been first class. You will know, obviously, of the enhancements already evident in this particular car, so you are off to a flying start.
All the best with the build.

Default Safely Home

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

After 3 days of traveling Sydney to Sunshine Coast and back. the car is now tucked up safely in my garage. It took 2 cars, one with box trailer for engine and transmission and another with a car trailer to get it all home with both boots full and more stuff in both trailers. I now have to sort through all the gear and make a cradle for the body to sit on whilst I work on the chassis before I actually start on the car. Thanks to Murray for his help, I know he was sorry to see it go. Craig and Warren for getting a heap of parts sorted at short notice and my dad for coming up with to help pick up the car.

Will post some photos when I get enough post to my name

Dave

Default Starting the build

After getting the car home last week I spent a couple of days getting everything sorted and stored away in some sort of logical order so I can find it as I need it.

I had to build a cradle to store the body on. It had to be able to be rolled in and out of the garage to allow me to work on the chassis

I set about mounting the bonnet scoop and heat shield cloth. Also got a couple of the S/S panels mounted.

So far so good, everything is taking about twice as long as I thought but thats ok as I am loving every minute of it.
