Got home a couple of hours ago from another great Nationals weekend away. Congratulations to the CCCNSW club and all their sensational volunteers and organisers it really is such a well put together and run event. Bring on next year! (spook it's time to start a thread)

Congratulations to John White on King Cobra, and Robyn Hudson on Queen Cobra. Both beautiful cars and very well driven (obviously).

For myself my Eddy Venom did well. I had an excursion and took out the tyres at the top of the hill climb in slippery conditions, sidepipe will need re-coating but no real damage. And people keep asking me when am I going to paint it? The chip on the guard happened earlier this year at Winton.

My best lap time Sunday was 1:09.8 - stoked with that on the KU36!

Great event as always, thanks to NSW Cobra Car Club - The weather challenged us all but we got through.

Thanks especially to the officials and volunteers who were out in the elements on Saturday when it was very cold and sometimes wet.

I had a great time - no car troubles other than a broken wheel bolt that a quick trip to Mitre10 could fix.

Cobra needs a bit of drying out though as the trip back to Melb was pretty wet. All good. Roll on next year. Cheers Gregg

Well done to everyone. I hear the new WP GM made some new "friends".

Wazza 10-03-2016 04:10 PM

Thanks to all of the Cobra Car Club of NSW for hosting the event....
A quick 1,100 Klm drive yesterday saw us home safe...with a few of the other Queenslanders stopping overnight at Sawtell, and getting home today.
Had some great talks with the NSW club over the weekend...with some good ideas to make the next years event bigger and better than ever.
Cheers,
Warren

Yes, thanks to all the NSW club committee and organisers. Even the cold and wet didn't stop the event! And especially thanks to all those fantastic people who, as Gregg said, braved freezing wet conditions out on the course Friday and Saturday, then sweltered on Sunday!

My first Nats as a competitor was a great experience. The camaraderie is excellent, advice plentiful, assistance readily given, humour always kept high! While I didn't break any records, I am pretty happy with my overall lap times, and it gives me a good starting point for next year.

As Wazza said, some good discussion also had with Kim and the team about how we might all help to make the even bigger and even better for future years.

Here is a snipet of my first hillclimb practice to whet your appetites (or have a laugh)...

Awesome work as MC again Wazza. The chicken truck crash joke had me crying laughing. :)

The old "tank slapper" - I am too embarrassed to put up my video of my hill climb as I was after you and I had rain on the outside and inside of my windscreen and couldn't see so was "driving miss daisy" slow. :-)

The 23rd Nationals

A huge thank you to the NSWCCC for another fantastic event.

It was my 13th and I always enjoy the event whether I am competing or

there for the Show and Shine.

The weather was a bit unkind but no one can control that and it gave me an

excuse to wear some of my new CCCV merchandise :D as its not THAT cold in

Victoria.....

Roll on next year, bigger and better.

Here is my best lap of the weekend and what picked up 1st place in class 7 control tyre class;

For a number of reasons, I nearly didn't make it to the 23rd Nationals this year, and practically finished building my Pace in the pit garage!

Massive thanks to Craig, Wazza and Steve from Absolute Pace who were really supportive over the weekend. Craig and Steve jumped right onto my car to help me diagnose a sticky handbrake caliper that caused me to spin on Turn 2. Ended up being a simple adjustment to centre the caliper over the rotor. Very much appreciated Pace providing me a pit lane garage too which enabled my 9yo son Liam to come with me and be involved with the event. He enjoyed himself so much that he is already pumped to come next year!

Big thanks also to Guy and Brent for generously lending me their tools (and Guy's overalls), John White for lending me a jack, stands and oil tray and Jeff Taunton and Mick for lending me some other tools. Thank you too BJ for the use of your gloves.

The NSW Cobra Club put on an awesome event and although marred by terrible weather on the Fri/Sat, we ended up being gifted with a pearler of a day on the Sunday. Thanks to all the volunteers too that made the weekend awesome for all. It was great to be able to put a lot of faces to their forum names! And the camaraderie among everyone there was fantastic.

Cheers,
Sime

My car is far from being completed but we made it!

Spectacular colour Sime! Your problem looked pretty serious at one stage I was surprised to see you back out on the track. Great camaraderie from all making it a great weekend, Jeff lent us some tools and Mick gave us a part to keep us going as well, thanks guys.

albanycobra 10-06-2016 04:00 AM

A few videos from onboard our car...

Super sprint Session 3 (best lap was the last lap which was a 1:05.9 - I didn't get my last session on video which was only a little faster - 1:05.7)

Here is the Absolute Pace Lap - 1:06.6. Fairly happy with this lap, just tried to drive it clean and consistently.

Great stuff Kim, well done to the whole NSW club again.

On another note, you clearly need an engine upgrade :)

Madison cleaned up in every category for King Cobra but was too far down the drag (excuse me, "straight sprint"). More power! More power!
