Multiplexing Wiring Loom System

In time I will need to replace the wiring on my DRB. I have been looking at wiring looms from various companies. I have also seen a multiplexing system where you have 3 control units and only uses half the wiring of a standard loom. Bad choice of Name though....Isis Intelligent Multiplex System. Cost is a lot more at about $1500 for system than $350 for standard loom. Supposedly takes half the time to install than a standard loom and does have fault screen, which would be handy. Don't know if it is worth the extra cost. What system would others choose?

Having wired my car completely myself, I can say that it is very time consuming, if the multiplexing system is that much easier you would easily save the money in time.

Also, it would be heads easier to add or change wiring methinks. Running extra wires in a trad loom is not easy!

On the other hand, more tech can = more things that can go wrong...

I bought their predecessor to this system called I-Squared. It sat on the shelf a few years and when I went to install I needed to make a few changes and learned the system is no longer supported. I ended up having to sell the boxes to someone with the same system as spares (they do fail) and I'm using the wire to build a conventional harness.

Not saying there is anything wrong with it, but you are paying a premium price for something that will be very old unsupported technology in a fairly short amount of time. Something to consider.

EDIT: A while back Fantomworks did a rather absurd Factory Five rebuild. During that episode they made a deal over its outdated unserviceable electrical system that needed a full rewire. That system was the predecessor to ISIS, same as mine.

A couple of fellas on here have used it, and I have mine which will be going into the car the next few months so I'll be able to let you know fairly soon, assuming everything is going to plan.
