Default Cobra with a Porsche transaxle

I can't remember who I was talking to about putting a transaxle in a Cobra, so I'll just put it out here for everyone!
Interesting body shape, but a twin turbo Cobra with a Porsche transaxle isn't something you see everyday...

I noticed it is described as having a Monocoque-reinforced 2-inch square-tube frame
Whoever wrote that ad is an oxymoron.

Kind of cool, but I think there's already enough weight in the rear of a Cobra!

I agree Ben. I am surprised the Transmission tunnel isn't any smaller given the gearbox is at the rear. I suppose you still have the bell housing for the clutch don't you?

What I wanna see is an all-wheel drive Cobra - now that would be a nice engineering feat and would go like hell.

Frivolous Sunday morning chatter.. re the AWD option the Nissan skyline set up with a transaxel and forward running prop shaft is a good packaging option.

From a structural and usability perspective the entire chassis and suspension would need to be designed and built around the design to make it effective ... That said they are putting the skyline driveline in the Juke, which is not a big car at all.

It appears those tires are mounted on the wrong sides - the directional tread is facing the wrong way.

Yup, seems like adding more weight to the back of a car that already tends to be rear heavy...and at the same time putting in a (very expensive) transmission that is already marginal for a high torque motor is questionable at best. Don't see any advantage over a standard IRS and Tremec.
