Default Qlders - cobra nats 2017

Just a heads up that its 17 weeks till Cobra Nats 2017 for the QLD MOB. There's a bit up in the air here with Ronnie Ford the usual Nats organiser likely away, a new QLD Club President to be sworn in (Thanks Wazza for a 1000 years of awesome Presidency) and things being fairly quiet on the cobra activity front with so many people just being FLAT OUT with life.

While Im unsure as to my own personal attendance (At this stage 75% likely) I figured I'd post a topic to see who from QLD wants to attend so as I can start to put the hotel tentative numbers together and give them some warning of your imminent calls.

For simplicity sake, it will be as per last years arrangements (Except no museum visit).

Day one Wednesday morning leave QLD and arrive at

Airport Motel Sir Francis Drake
2259 Pacific Highway
Heatherbrae NSW 2324
Ph - 02 4987 1444 Fax - 02 4987 1393
Em - reception@sirfrancisdrake.com.au

Once we know who the next President is (ASHLEY BRIGHT - WELL DONE ASH for putting your love life on hold LOL) Im sure the club will shout us our dinner, fish and chips, pizza whatever at the Sir Francis Drake. A few club beers to be added to the list and a couple of bottles of wine for the ladies that don’t drink beer. Ladies...Ash? Is your better half coming???

Days two (to five inclusive, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

Leave SFD motel and drive straight to Goulburn.

Arrive at the

WILLOWS MOTEL GOULBURN
21 Sydney Rd, Goulburn NSW 2580
phone 02 4821 4322 fax 02 4821 6295
Willows Motel - Goulburn Accommodation

Day six Monday return trip to Sawtell, have a couple of drinks in the garden and then go to the local services club for dinner. The club details are;

Sawtell RSL
38-40 First Avenue
Sawtell, NSW (02 6653 1577)

The club is walking distance from the motel and you will need ID to get in.

Sawtell Motor Inn
57 Boronia St
Sawtell NSW 2452
Ph 02 6658 9872
email: info@sawtellmotorinn.com.au

Leave SMI and head home.

There may be a number of different groups going down in different formats but we can confirm who/what/when once I know the names of attendees.
As per the last few years YOU will be responsible for booking ALL OF YOUR OWN ACCOMMODATION as per above AS WELL AS YOUR OWN NATS ENTRY to the NSWCCC. The QLD Club nor me is responsible for making your booking, paying for you or making you cheese on toast!

Its a GREAT TRACK, GREAT EVENT and I HOPE to see not only the regulars but a heap of newbies as well. It is what we make it.

Signing off
Matt

I live near Sawtell ( less than 5 minutes away) and would love to show my kids your Cobras when you come stay for the night.

Sorry guys first time in 11 years I won't be there. At this stage I'm running the Supercar in a sports sedans event at Phillip Island the same weekend. That's the reason I bought it!
Enjoy the Nationals guys!

Default Car Museum

PS, Ron Ford has made a tentative booking on the 28th to again visit the Gosford car museum. Booking for 20 people. So far I have had confirmed only 2 QLDs keen to do the Nats this year so if I get no further interest I will cancel the museum booking in late August.

Make sure YOU have booked at the relevant motels if you plan on attending.

Heads up that the NSWCCC have updated their page with some info on this years Nationals event.

See here regarding new things happening and garage booking info.

Cobra Car Club of NSW : Cobra Car Club of NSW

Ive had 3 registrations of interest from QLD going this year having spread the gospel across various FB pages and the CC forum. There was a pre-booked slot also at the Gosford Motor Museum again but with no real interest I'll cancel this in the forseeable future so the booking can be shared by others.

With the limited numbers thus far no real value in me advising hotels on potential QLD numbers, so again, unless this changes I'll leave it to individuals to do their own thing. Remember its a long weekend and these hotels often get booked out by groups months in advance.

I'm not one to leave everything to the last minute so we have the info, we've all done it enough times, and I'm leaving it all in your good hands to make and sort out your own personal arrangements.

Feel free to call me if you need any help or advice.

Matt

More details here regarding the non-availability of day license purchases from WP as well as expected time frames for entries to come out.

Matt, I am planning to attend. Suspect will get more responses from QLD'ers if message goes out via the QLD Cobra Club email list. I believe Many of them are either not on this forum or only check occasionally. Jim

Just as well the Nats weren't on last weekend.
Goulburn hit -10C on Sunday morning and was the coldest spot in Australia.
(I have no word on whether it was raining and blowing as well.)

Update on QLD attendees. Probably the smallest "group" since West Wylong but it wont dampen the enthusiasm. No large AP group or even Wazza attending so it will be different! Here's hoping for perfect weather. Cant be too much to ask can it.

1. John White. Class R spec over 6 litre. Garage TBA
2. Peter Hancock Class Race Garage TBA
3. Jim Diakos. Class not sure Garage 31
4. Mick Schipper Class not sure Garage 32
5. Tony Stark Class Race
6. Phil and Ros Class not sure Garage TBA
7. Me Class Race Garage 26
