Please allow me to introduce myself...
Hi Everybody, I am just about to embark on an epic journey. Both my parents died no too long ago, so my wife and I inherited enough money to pay a chunk off our mortgage, my wife to go to Italy next year (her bucket list) and me to go to The US Masters (my bucket list).
In my younger days I did a panel beating journeyman course at evening college so that I could gain the skills required to restore a car. I spent the next 2 years completely stripping and rebuilding an HJ 2 door Monaro, which came in the top 15 at the Summernats way back in the eighties. It was featured in a couple of magazines and I was really proud of the result. I later got into Corvettes and have owned 3 at different times. I was involved in a lot of the RHD conversion and really enjoyed going to club track days. After that I bought a late model Monaro that I spent a heap on and enjoyed learning how to drive fast on track days. All that went by the wayside to make way for a family wagon. After we received the inheritance, my wife suggested that I get another fast car. I thought that sounded like a great idea! I started to look at different options. I have a mate in the US who was building a Cobra, so I started researching. I visited Daniel (Classic Revival)at his workshop late last year to have a close look at the quality of his work. I came away very impressed. I placed an order with him in January and last week week I drove down from the Sunshine Coast to pick up my new project. I already have an LS2 engine, that I will pull down and put a cam in after engineering, a TR6060 gearbox and AP Racing brakes. I plan on doing most of the work myself, including panel and paint. I have been reading with interest, the build logs here, and hopefully I will have something to contribute. I may need some guidance along the way. Regards Will |
Welcome aboard. I hope you have as much fun building your car as I did mine :)
|
Thanks Tim. I'm looking forward to the many challenges ahead.

Will,
If you are going to replace the camshaft, PLEASE replace the factory roller lifters with a TIEBAR lifter set from MOREL or Compcams etc. The factory valvetrain is crap on an LS. Gary |

Will, Good on Ya Mate........I'm down in Beerwah. I had a Harrison with an LS2 - unbeatable bang for your buck !
|
Welcome aboard Will. I have a Classic Revival too - 11 years now - time goes fast - mine was one of the early Round tubes. Great car to build, goes together well. Good motor choice too :-) cheers Gregg
P.S. There will be at least 3 of us CR "round tubers" at the upcoming Cobra Nationals at Wakefield Park Goulburn NSW in October. If you are Building there's at least 3 of us who have been there done that with a few helpful tips if you like. Would be worth a trip I reckon. |
Thanks for the advice Gary. I plan on doing the full DOD delete, with cam, lifters, pushrods etc.
|
Hey Will, Im in Arcoona Rd about 5 mins from your place. Happy to help out if needed. Ive got a few odd bits n bobs in my shed. Matt

A friend of mine has just done this, DOD delete, billet valley plate, Morel tiebar lifters, Comp Cam (I don't know the grind), pushrods, rockers, springs, billet valve covers, relocated coils etc. AFM (DOD) is great on paper, but I have seen too many failures, so not my favourite. Gary |
Yeup shed run for sure.....
