Thumbs up Hey guys, lets do some price comparisons.

I was looking at my summit catalog and was wondering if
the price was equal to what you guys pay for the same parts.
Less shipping of course.
First thing is a 5.0L bare engine block ....
US Dollars- $330.00 Australian - $632.00

Edelbrock performer RPM aluminum heads for 302
with valves and springs.
US Dollars-$1,079.00 Austalian - $2,067.00

Speed demon 4 barrel carb 850cfm mechanical secondaries...
US Dollars- $440.00 Australian- $843.00

So the price I listed is what we would pay and I converted
that to Australian Dollar. If you guys can look up these items
and post what you pay then we can see if there is a big
difference. If so maybe we can arrange to help each other
save some bucks by group purchasing.
It may not be worth the effort but we won't know unless we
check.
I know that when I go to Mexico I get medications for
a third of what I pay here in the states and it's the
same stuff.

Any other ideas are welcome.

Hersh

Hi Hershal,

Can't give you any specific prices but enclosed is a link to a shop near my home. I've bought a bit of stuff from these guys over the years and their prices seem reasonable for what you get down here. They have a big online catalog that includes prices in Aussie pesos so you might be able to find what you need.

http://www.vpwmailorder.com/ieframeset.html

Drop me a line if you want me to ring around for any parts in particular. We have a lot of local manufacturers making V8 stuff at good prices.

Cheers

Hersh,
The following are just some of the Australian companies making world class products:

Romac/Rollmaster products (harmonic balancers/double row 9 key timing chains/fully floating 9" hubs/mini & full spools)

Motec/Autronic/Haltech engine management products

PRO or CHI aftermarket cylinder .

The Aussie dollar is SO BAD at the moment that items like the Motec M48PRO ECU are super cheap for you guys. I've heard that they sell for nearly $5000- USD with loom and sensors - the same product can be bought over here for about $1800- USD!!!

I know the guys that run Romac, and there are similar discrepancies with the timing chains and balancers....

US parts are a different story. Most shops in Brisbane are getting about $1200- for the 850 Speed Demon (or the BG Silver Claw for that matter), $2500 for the heads, and I've never seen a bare / new 5.0L block for sale!

I did the sums when I imported my motor from California last year. I saved about 30% after duties/taxes by buying from the US. Similar savings were to be found on other parts I imported - tyres, superchargers, scattershield, Wilwood calipers & pedal box, anodised fittings, braided hose, fuel cell, MSD ignition parts, clutch and flywheel, 9" nodular case, Moser axles etc etc

If you do find ANYTHING you need, from engine parts to GT40 detail items, or just simply anything Australian - please let me know. I'll tell you what, here's a special deal..... All parts hand delivered from Brisbane to your home in Arizona for FREE (well, maybe as far as Phoenix Airport anyway ) Offer only valid in June

Dave,
In case I didn't mention it to you before, it was the ABS ECU causing the problem. Diagnostics are ABS system working now.
I would still appreciate a copy of the VR wiring diagrams from you when you get a chance.
