Default What cost in wiring?

What estimates

I am just about to start wiring the car.

As I am not running EFI but a straight carby set up, what type of cost would be reasonable?

Any thoughts

I did consider buying a pre made wire loom such as Painless etc. but decided to run with an auto electrician.

Would appreciate feedback to give me a ball park figure and some idea if I am being priced correctly

Thanks

Bernie

I've seen a lot of carbed guys paying up to $1500 for a good quality job. Some have got away with it for less than $1000.

I rang Motec to see who they recommended for my car (EFI with datalogging sensors throughout), and I was told the details of three different companies. In ballpark figures, one quoted $2500, one $4000, and one $7000-!!!

It pays to shop around!

Default And that's why....

I went painless

Was very surprised at both cost and quality, both very good....but....

It does take a bit of work to run all the wires, but this allowed me to hide the stuff in the most unusual places so the least seen the better.

You do need to get some extra stuff besides the Painless loom ...Positive and Neg cable comes to mind...master switch if you want one..solenoids for cooling fan and fuel pump if electric pump etc...but all that was minor stuff.

was easy job tho

You all take care

Craig, Les

Thanks guys for the feedback.

Like you I was given two quotes and they were both for exactly the same specs. But yes they were poles apart

It seems I am in the ball park and will push on with a $1200 estimate. The Painless kit required a few hours and some extra dollars so I thought a custom made for me is the way to go.

Thanks again

Cheers

Bernie
