Default Bonnet scoop

I have just added a pic into my gallery that Ian sent me of my completed kit ready to send.
My question to the guys that may know, why is there no hood scoop attached to the bonnet?
Does it come seperate?
I will contact Ian via phone tomorrow but I may not get him as he said he flys to the states.
If it does come seperate, then why would that be?
From memory all the pics I have seen of his cars being built they all have scoops fitted.
here is a link to the pic

Hiya boxhead..I bet you're smiling and cant wait to get that thing.

Ok..as to your scoop..Real cobras used a riveted on scoop.

Many kit producers do mould the scoop into their bonnets for a smoother appearance. My RMC for instance had the scoop moulded into the bonnet therefore not requiring a separate riveted scoop....BUT..guess what?

I cut out the moulded scoop cuz the shape was all wrong. I will rivet on a proper shaped/size scoop just as you will.
Here is an addy to the ERA web site about the scoops.

http://www.erareplicas.com/427man/body/hood.htm

You will note from that page that the original cobra also used rivets along the front edge of the bonnet.....some folks put dummy rivets to imitate this

Hope that helps

Hi Boxhead
Ian changed his bonnet a while back and made the scoop a seperate peice which is attached with screws instead of being moulded in with the rest of the bonnet.

The new bonnet and scoop looks really good in the flesh, I'm jealous.

Cheers

That makes me happy, I knew about originals being riveted on.
But didnt realise that Ian had made this change.
Is there a scoop supplied with the kit?

G'day again boxhead..

Well..given that you're from Alice Springs...I dont think Ian will supply you a scoop.

Ian only sends scoops to Victoria clients cuz it pi$$es with rain dont there and they dont wanna have their lil LS1's ingest H2O.

Only kiddin...I bet there is a scoop there somewhere with the kit
