Bernie Knight - I hope he's still alive!!
Message from Todd Knight (Bernies son!!):
I hope dad's still alive!!
He has to bring back all the presents for me!!
Mum spoke to him on Wednesday (22nd).
He had to run around to get all the presents for mum and the sisters!! Plus a few for me of course.
Hows this - When he got to LA, he went to pick up the hire car, the women buggered the reservation. To compensate him they gave him a free upgrade. All they had that was better than a Mazda 6 (originalally booked) was "a convertible" she said.
She returned with a 2003 Mustang Cobra convertible with 45 miles on the clock!! (All the panels fit too!)
As you could imagine, dad was most disappointed (NOT!!), last time we heard from him, he was headed to Las Vegas to go to the Shelby Factory - roof down, wind in (Grey)hair!!
Meanwhile, there is a cobra sitting in the garage at our house, just calling my name!! (Shame I cant afford the petrol!!) (And he took the keys!!)
Gotta go.
Catch up with you guys when dad gets back and starts cruising.
Todd Knight

Funny you guys all say that he wont be back, we have not heard from him for a few days!!
To Jase,
I may have scored a cobra, but it still isn’t finished!!
I just happened to find the "hidden" keys today- cant tell I'm the son of a former detective!!
The cobra is good, but a maccas is better!! (Well 1/4)
He'll be back though, mum WILL cancel he's credit card, then he'll be done!! The 'stang will have to go back too - he's probably just spending a bit of time cruising for chicks!! I should be there with him, there is a bit more chance for someone 30 years younger. (Uni timetable got the better of me!!)

Rick -
Dad told me all about you guys, thanks for showing him a good time. He told me all about the beer and moonshine too!! It would be great to see some of you guys over here. Maybe you could come over around the time of the cobra nationals one year (early October), to see how they do it over here? You would all be very welcome!!
If not, dad is already planning a bigger, better, longer trip back with me in 2005 - after I'm done at university - maybe! I look forward to meeting and seeing all these people and cars I have read about in KCI for the last 8 years!! Plus seeing some real cobras and big blocks (they're rare over here- or just not on the road (Andy))
I started the car today and ran it for a few minutes. (Just keeping everything operational of course). The neighbours came out, trying to work out where all the noise was coming from and naturally wanted a look!! It's the only one in the town!!
I just have to wait til he gets back, to go for a drive. I've only been in the passengers seat down the freeway for 5 minutes. Now you know why I’m going crazy!! 10 years of dreaming does that!!
Todd Knight - cobra mad - no $$ to built his own (YET)!!

Hi Todd.....I received a nice email from Bernie today...but he's very confused about which direction the moon is suppose to be...upside down or right-side up
The real story was he was just on the wrong side of the world for a few weeks...and he's on the way home now....
Your racing events I'm reading about sound like a great time....it's going to snow here tomorrow and I just rotated the race tires from the Run & Gun to the garage and have the street tires back on...just in case we get a nice warm 40 degree day between now and April 2004....

Perhaps I can find a way to help you surprise him with these...
with KNIGHT RACING on them...

Hey I'm back
Jay I am heading down to the Post Office first thing!! I am glad you liked the shirt.
I will keep an eye out for any others we have here.
George,
The valve covers in Gessford look great. Do they clear the roller rockers etc.
My ego and my lack of real knowledge would/should stop me from getting them with my name on them. Will ring you in the next few days.
Thanks guys for making me feel welcome whilst at the
Run N Gun. I enjoyed the time there particularly the laps of Gateway in Scotts car prior to racing on Sunday.
It will be interesting to see the KC magazine coverage.
Please pass on my thanks to everyone involved.
If possible I would like the recipe for the Georgia moonshine. I slept like a baby all the way home (slept for an hour then cried for an hour!!)
Ric L,
Thanks for the opportunity to play in your car. Hope you can organise a visit to the Australian Nationals.
I will go out on a limb and suggest that if a few of you came over I could possible organise a car each for you as a passenger for a day run somewhere.
We are pretty hospitable over here
Look forward in keeping in touch on the Australian Forum here.
Cheers
Bernie

Your Welcome
Bernie Knight Your welcome. We had a great time with you. We should have told you about GeorgeA and JayB but it would have been no fun otherwise. I am in the process of get a bigger motor for next year. Talked to the other half, she said that darn car is eatting into her quality time. I want to run 11.95 allday long and SANDBAG big time. Only kidding. Other half said that you will spend 15K for a short block so that you can win a $20 piece of metal and fake wood to collect dust and hang on the wall. She stopped after that and looked at the 300 hummels, 400 bears, and enough magnets on the frig to have the thing from wieght in the basement. We will see. I will see about leting George build the short block. He does great work but the menu is like the PORTERHOUSE in St. Lious. I will work something out with him in the spring. I think the the R&G has run it's course in St. Lious and people are getting tired of this track. and maybe it's time for a change. If it goes west unless someone has a two car trailer I am not going. I think Indy would be a nice place to try. I will have to wait for 3 years for vaction time to go down under. I hear you need a min of two weeks to see some of the sites and hanging around your club a month to recover. I'm sure there is some payback coming. I great pleasure to meet you. Thanks for the good time. You can't have my car even if you look good in it. Rick Lake

Hey Rick,
Just picked that you are on the forum.
I have 'Posted' a few replies on the 'Australian Forum' knowing you are coming on here now.
As you can read I am driving my car around in the white Gel coat and enjoying it.
I will get a few pictures on soon.
Must say that I heard a few people say that 'Run 'N Gun' will be a different event next year with the direction that KC are heading with the heavy involvement of Mustangs.
The three Mustangs were very competive and they had plenty of fun.
Then one must give it a go to see how it works with a number of Mustangs there.
I did a tour of the Indy site museum and had a few laps of the track. It would be a great central location for the Run N Gun. But I hear that the owner is not interested in having club events there.
Guess he makes enough each year with the Indy 500 and the two or so Winston Cup Nascar events to keep him busy and satisfied.
Again, good to meet you guys. Say hello to that elder statesman Sir Bob.
Cheers
Bernie

Beverage Committee Chairman
Bernie Bob's OK Pulled the heads off the car and the porter is maken good on the OOPS. Heads where too thin on the short radias of the heads. I think he found more than 1 hole in them. I will find out in a couple of weeks. O'hell I tell him to E-Mail you and get off his butt. ONLY KIDDING BOB. Got to go suck leaves and mow the grass. Have a good drive, have to unload mine and put the street tires back on. Back in the garage it goes till next year. It's safer this way. Less wear and tear. I want to beat Bill Bletcher next year. I figure about 100 to 150 hp is needed. Other half is up, got to go Rick Lake

See you soon Rick
I'm just filling in time at work. Had to make up and work a day on the weekend.
I have got over the jet lag and find it hard to get to bed and sleep. This will settle down in the next day or so.
I arrived home yesterday Saturday a.m our time.
Its Sunday night 11.50pm here and I am wide awake just left work.
After leaving the Run N Gun I went back to Chicago for a visit to McDonald's head office there and then left the next day for LA.
Had a great week and a bit there. The fires were bad and I could not acess 10 to get to Las Vegas to see Shelby American.
The museum was closed and I could not justify spending the dollars to fly in for a hour visit. It was disappointing that I could not get to visit with Kris there and Wayne T's friend there.
Anyway next time.
Let you get to work on the garden there.
Good to hear that Bob was able to sort out the heads. New heads with less of that port tool.
Cheers
Bernie

Bernie.....Happy to hear you arrived home safely....
As for the trip to Australia.....I've been doing some research for some tourism on the non-race days...
Some 20 kilometres west of the Victorian Border in the state of South Australia is picturesque Mt. Gambier. The city snuggles beside the base of an extinct volcano and is situated above an eloborate network of subterranean lakes.
Some 23,000 people have made Mt. Gambier their home city.
The extinct volcano called "The Blue Lake" is said to be over 200 metres deep and changes colour from grey to a brilliant cobolt blue from November and remains that way until March. This changing of the colour is an unexplained phenomenon.
Sounds like you reside in a very interesting location...the town I live in is 24,000 people and we have the Ogallala Aquifer under us with unlimited water too...but no Caves or volcanos...
As for the Georgia Moon.....we import it from Georgia and I could most likely ship a container to you...not sure how though....it's very dangerous stuff....
Have a great week!
George
Rick.....you are a sand baggggger...at 11.95....I'll still either Red Light or Break Out.....glad you talked with Chris @ Shelby b/4 he left for the SEMA Show...

George
Good to see your doing some reading on Mt. Gambier. Yes its a great place we have about another 10,000 people in surrounding small towns that are based in timber type business - mills, transport etc.
The internet is a great tool to use prior to travelling I saved a fair bit by booking ahead and ordering parts etc. prior to travelling.
They were packed and ready when I arrived. I'm looking at rocker covers immediately!!
We are heading into summer with temperatures over the next three months in the mid 20 to mid 30's. 70F - 90F. You may noticed cold weather is 5 - 10. 40F - 50F approximately.
Hope Friday was good for you and you had that pumpkin out. Halloween is sure an interesting thing to witness.
Must get back to work the boss is hovering.
Cheers
Bernie
