Default stone guards on rear wings

i was thinking about these the other day...with the sidepipes where they are shouldnt they protect the rear wings from flying stones coming off the front wheels? just a thought...but it would seem to me that they would offer a fair amount of guardage from stones already...

Unhappy not really

I have had to apply a 3M clear plastic product to these areas as although the side pipes stop most of the stones its the limited amount that get through that make it look untidy, also applied the 3M product to the front area to stop the chips up there too.

damn...i dont particularly like the look of the shiny aluminium stone guards...what is this 3M product you are talking about? is it a clear film that you apply to the wings? how often does it need replacing?

I don't know if you can get this stuff down there, but check out this thread on installing the 3M product under the name of Invincashield: Invincashield

Check out Invincashield's web sight. They can answer your questions. Caution: This stuff is hard to install without experience . . . trust me.

Here's their web site: http://www.invinca-shield.com/main.htm

Hi all

Peter Stevens Motor Cycles in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne has a protective 3M type of clear that they sell for the lower front of bikes.

Don't know the costs or sizes they sell.

Cheers

If you can't find Invincashield locally try a vinyl sign shop, they may well carry something that will work although you'll have to make your own patterns. I found a sign shop locally that sells a 7 mil clear sheet, static cling vinyl (invincashield is 8 mil) for $7.00 for a 36"X36" sheet with strip sizes available as well.
