Default AU falcon as a donor car

Hi,

I'm still investigating the Cobra purchase, and while I'm waiting for the decision whether I can insure it as a full time vehicle, I have been investigating the opporunity to use an AU falcon as a donor car. What fits? What doesn't? What has to be modded? I'm talking mostly drivetrain/suspension??

Cheers

Nathan

My kit is from Classic Revivals & it uses the AU IRS rear suspension, but that is all it uses.
I think you would be better of just buying the bits you need to build the kit you purchase.
I havent heard of a single donor kit in Australia, the closest is the DRB that uses mainly LH torana stuff.

Also the motor will not pass the new ADR rules if you run it on petrol

Doesn't matter if you run it on Petrol or Gas. It won't pass either way.

AU engine will pass the current ADR if the car is completed before the end of next year, or so the DRB Melbourne guy (the engineer) stated.

New emissiom standards were released on 1/1/03

The new satandards were enforced immediately in NSW however in VIC current builders were given 2 years to complete the vehicle.

To my understanding, the 2 years grace applies only to those people who had started building (purchased chasis) before 1/1/03

I purchased my Cobra kit in December 2002 (just made it) and so I must have it registered by the end of this year. If its Graham Docker that gave you the info then double check with him or contact Peter Ransom.

As far as I am aware, new builders will have to use 2003 motors or 1995 onwards USA motors. And yes I believe Shelby 400 is correct re: running on gas will no longer pass emmisions.
