Question Cobra registration

Is there an opportunity for Cobra manufacturers here?

I have made mention of the recent article in the Australian Street Rodding magazine - Publisher, Larry O'Toole. Graffiti Publications.

Victoria Australia ring 03 54 723653 Fax 03 54 380572

This article refers to the recent National changes to registration of Street Rods ( read Kit cars ) Issue 168 February/March states....

In part...

page 98...

"The National Guidelines for the construction and modification of Street Rods in Australia has just been approved and is ready for implementation in every State and Territory.

Thursday December 4, 2003 has to go down in the annals of the ASRF as one of the most significant days in history. That was the day that the Australian Motor Vehicle Certification Board agreed to the adoption of the "National Guidelines For the Construction and Modification of Street Rods in Australia, and the administrator agreed to have these guidelines posted on the Department of Transport and regional services website, <www.dotars.gov.au> during 2004.

On Monday December 1, all of the State and Territory registration jurisdictions agreed to the Guidelines but this needed ratification by the AMVCB before it could take effect.

That occurred on December 4, 2003 etc etc.

end quote........

OK, this one page artice goes on to talk about the process of registering your Street Rod and notifying TAC inspectors etc.

How I see this.

Whilst this article is totally Street Rod focused there appears to be an opportunity for Cobra manufacturers to comply in a similiar way. The article is clearly Street Rod related and pre 1949 car related, but I can see some real opportunities here for Kit car manufacturers.

At the 'end of the day' we are basically doing exactly the same thing but with cars built in a different decade. Both are kits and are manufactured in a limited production situation.

Perhaps Larry O'Toole may shed some light on the registration process facing Cobra kit car builders.

No doubt he has copies of edition 168 February/March. he has done some follow up articles further explaining the process.

Nothing ventured....

Give him a call and have a copy of the article sent to you.

Cheers

Bernie
