Another Queensland Cobra
Hello all.
I am patiently waiting for my DRB2000(original dash) to arrive. The parts are slowly accumulating - Jag suspension, steering rack and column etc, etc,
Trying to decide - Quad Cam or LS1
Look forward to any help with the build you guys can supply.
Regards
Nick

Hi Nick,
Welcome aboard. Good to see another QLD'er on the site.
Soon we'll have enough to have a party!!
When does the body arrive?
Did I come across you the other week at a certain tiling store or is that another QLD'er who will be joining up soon?

G'day Nick,
'Bout time another Qlder joined up, Rebel1 was gettin' awful lonely up there
As for LS1 or Boss you've opened a can of worms there. For me, LS1. Does your DBR give you the choice?
If you do a search you'll find a few threads about the matter.
Have fun building
Al

Hiya Nick....Welcome to the funny farm.
What motor you choose is a personal choice. I'm using the windsor but only because I already have a VIN and dont have to abide by latest polution ADR's.
If I didn't have the VIN the choice of which to use would be difficult.
As the fella's have mentioned, The LS1 is a popular choice. So also is the lexus with one or two hair dryers.
If ya need any advice, ask in here...you'll get all ya need.
Great bunch of fellas...even those Southern ones

Hey Les,
Picking the Cobra up today from its excursion to the sprayshop.
Will then find out whether acrylic / 2 - Pac goes together
My sprayer is very happy with the results, but actions speak louder than words.
I've even had the guard lips glassed so they are smooth underneath. Should give some added strength, but don't intend finding out if it works.
Will post some pics in the Gallery once I've refitted all the chrome.
Get yourself down to Victoria Point on Sat 08 May - Hot Rod / Muscle Car show on. Hopefully will be there as long as no rain (mind you I could take my new tonneau cover with me - big tarp from super cheap )

Hi Nick,
Welcome to the Forum! There's a great bunch of people here and a wealth of Cobra knowledge. The forum has certainly made my build easier.
LS1 of Boss that's a real topic for discussion at the moment considering the changing emissions rules. I went with the LS1 and I'm a big fan of this motor as you will probably see from some of my posts. However I would realy like to see some Cobras with a Boss motors in them. It's a physically huge motor and would look pretty impressive wedged int a Cobra engine bay.
HP potential from the Boss seems to be a bit limited in naturally aspirated form at the moment. The guys on the Ford forums are announcing some good numbers with a blower attached though. They haven't fully cracked the ECU yet and there's not much in the way of cams, heads etc but I'm sure they will catch up though once the tuners start fiddling with them. The LS1 has a 4-5 Year head start on the Boss so there is bound to be some good development to come.
Cheers

Hey Pete.
Hope the cobra looks good mate. The choice of paint is a little like what engine to use....everyone has a different idea.
With regard to the guard lips ...let me tell you from experience that removing ones letter box goes a long way in preserving the
integrity of ya guard lips. Dont ask me how I know
Let me see here....8th May hey?..... hmmmm.. nope..not gonna rain.
and..
If I can I'll come down and keep ya company for a little while. I'll even bring my own super cheap blue tarp...bet mines got more holes in it than yours.

Thanks for the welcome.
Boxhead - I`ll probably need a bit of help.
WILDAC - Plenty of you southerners seem to be puting them in.
Leeroy - My heart says Quad Cam but my head says LS1
PCC - Still have a few months to wait yet. That was not me at the tiling store.
NASSTY - I have seen the first Quad Cam they put into a DRB, a pretty tight fit, the LS1 seems to be the better option.
Rebel 1 - Not to sure about the Lexus, thats the wifes daily driver.
Aussie Mike - 'wedged in' is an under statement'
Once again thanks for the encouragement.
Regards
Nick

Nick,
As you're not the guy I met recently (in the tile store) then that means we should be getting another QLD'er on here soon
Are you north or south?
Pop in sometime and see if the 302 grabs yer.
Les,
Pleased with the re-spray. Guess what? It's the same colour

Nick,
You're just up the road as I'm at Alex Hills. Just let me know when.
I'm tied up this weekend with 2 car shows on at Vicky Point and Macleans Bridge - come along and have a chat.
The car you saw at Coopers Plain is the sister (brother?) of mine. I understand its had a few problems with the build including a siezed block.
You'll be itching at the bit to get your body - good luck.

Nick,
Forward your E-Mail to cmsmail@bigpond.net.au
My Cobra E-Mail goes to a different address that I don't access that often - too many E-mails interrupting work.
