Collecting my car Tomorrow
Hi all,
It has been a while since I posted anything remotely relevant, or at all. However, I thought some of you may be interested to know that I am having another attempt at collecting my Cobra from Classic Revival on Friday morning. Lets hope that this one is a LOT more successful and long lived that my first attempt. I am certainly better equipped this time, and know a little more about what not to do in my new 400hp / 1080kg car.
Pic attached, and if you are in Coffs Harbour this weekend, you may see it at the Coastal Cruisers Show and Shine at the Race Course. That is of course if i get there without incident....
All fun and games. Lots of love.
Sloth.

I SEE RED
Looks snappy, enjoy your drive.
But do enlighten us again with what happened on the first attempt.

Let's just say that i had trouble with traction control, and leave it at that.

Very nice - has a look of an original
At 400HP you're reaching the area of serious traction problems!
Trust you have a good set of stickies to keep you on the asphalt

Sloth - the car's looking a lot nicer than the previous photo in your gallery... What gear were you in when it all hit the fan? Road or track? Single vehicle deal, or did someone else get tangled up in it? Obviously, you're OK. That's the main thing.
Enjoy Cobra Mk2 !

Sloth,
Saw your car at Ians last week. You must be happy with the repair it looked spot on.
There was nothing wrong with the original pait job but I think this time looks even better.
Good luck and take care.

You mean it LOOKED better until God let it rain on me on the way home.
These cars are crazy in the wet.. Any tips from veterans on tyre pressures, ANYTHING etc that alleviates car from sliding all over what the politicians call the Pacific Highway south of Bullahdelah (I call it Dog Sh&t Lane); would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. If this post does not make any sense it is because the stiff scotch I poured when I got home is still going....
Cheers Phil. Still a great car and I love it.

Congrats on getting the car back. At least you poured a stiff scotch to settle the nerves after the drive and not before !
I'm going to try some Nitto 315/35/17 drag radials after I use up my Yoko A520s. They're supposed to be very good....... in the dry.

So,... based on the timing of this thread, are we to believe you got it home and it is in fact... in the drive/garage?
Shinny red with a soggy interior?
Glad you made it!

It was in the garage last night, however out at 6am for a shower and shine and is now on the concourse at the Coffs Harbour Coastal Cruisers "Show and Shine".
Just thought i would show it off as it looks fantastic.
I have the Nationals on the radar for sure, however billy lid #2 due next month so that may change a few opinions of me getting away... namely that of my wife. Can you camp at the nationals? That may change her mind for the better.
cheers.

Sloth,
Glad you made it home safe. Imagine what the ride home would have been like in the rain before the Bulladelah by pass went in.
We are running the same tires so would be interested to know what pressures you are running. Iam currently around 25 psi but think I may need to be lower.
Are you running a rear stabiliser bar as well as front? You may need to disconnect these in the rain.
Those Falkans look like they would move water pretty good so maybe ita a matter of getting the tire pressures and suspension set up.
A mate of mine is running Continentals on an Audi and reckons they are sensational in the rain. Not sure if sizes available for Cobra though.
How you go in the show and shine.
Have fun
Phil

Phil,
We ended up with 28psi and knew lower would be better, however thankfully ran out of wet road. Only running front sway bar unless ian has given me a rear without my knowledge...
As for disconnecting it in the rain, ah, not the way it is currently set up anyway. I do agree with you that it will be a matter of fooling around with both suspension and tyre pressures. Am aiming to spend a couple of days at QLD raceway soon to this end.
The car won Top Convertible at the show.
cheers

Sloth,
Congratulations thats trophy number 1.
Hope you make it to the Nationals so you can add to the trophy cabinet.
I'll let you know how my chassis tuning goes. I think a lot of work will be needed there just as I will need to practice a lot.
Regards,
Phil
