1 months rain overnight
After last nights rain & it has not stopped at all today got me thinking about Camerons SPF and the lovely hardtop it has fitted. As far as I know Classic Revival dont do a f/glass hardtop but was wondering if anyone knows the ones that do and if they are a nice shape & cost etc. I guess it would not be too hard to adapt to my CR body shape and would certainly make days like today not a problem.

still a problem......
The rain coming down isn't the problem, trying to see out of that little windshield and keep the wide tires on the road is the problem. Living in the Northwest, make that NorthWET, I have two 1/2" holes drilled in the footwells to let the water out.

Hi Leeroy
Mabey we could talk Ian into making a hardtop or organise a group purchase from another supplier (if we can find one that fits well) as I am after one to. Craig W |
Leeroy,
I'm also interested in a hardtop for the CR, so add me to the list! SNKBTE |
Count me in that list, I know it doesnt rain here often but figured it may be more comfortable to have a roof and a/c on the long drives from Alice to the Nationals and up to Qld.
Talking about rain we had 25 mm last night (6 months worth out here) |
Hey boxhead we got more rain, 125mm overnight. Maybe the hardtop's could second as a canoe:LOL:
|
Yeah I saw that on the news, My step father rang yesterday morning at 6.30 my time (7.00am Melb) and he said it was 11 degress and pi$$ing down rain, he had been driveing for 1&3/4 hours and was still about 4 kls from work.
Now can someone remind me why it is so good to live in Melbourne? (remember I was born in Melbourne and lived there until I was 21) |
Now let me think. Lousy weather, heavy traffic, over populated, speed cameras, speed limits. No cant think of any good reason Dave, stay put.

Leeroy,
Been thinking the same thing as I want to drive the CR to work all year round. I met Brian From Homebush Fibreglass at the skid pan day and plan to make contact to see what can be done. Brian use to make the bodies for Ian some time ago. The CR bodies and Homebush bodies are different so not sure what mods would be required. If there is enough interest I am pretty sure Brian would do a run for us, he seemed like an approacable guy. Phil |
Hi Phil,
I am a definate for a hardtop and judging buy the response from Craig, SNKBTE, boxhead and yourself theres 4 tops, sure we can convince Mike into one! so maybe contact Brian and see what he can do for 5 units. Is there any pic's around of Homebush tops? |
Just had a chat to Brian. He does a conventional hard top and a Targa style.
Conventional top is $1100.00. Includes fittings and rear window. Weather permitting I will take mine over on Saturday for trial fit. I will try to get photos. Brian is confident it will fit OK. Phil |
Now that I have had the car out in the rain, and sun a few times, I am even more impressed with the fit of the hardtop. Not a squeak or rattle.
The key (I think) is the very close fit to the front curve of the windscreen frame. If you go ahead, I would be happy to post detail pics of the fitting. There may be some ideas you could 'build' into a hardtop order. Also important is the fit of the windows to the frame, and a smart little press stud that snugs the window top to the frame to prevent vacuum flapping. Finally the wrap around rear glass (plastic), make visibility very, very useable. Cameron |
Cameron, It would be good to see how SPF have fixed the hood so your pictures would be appreciated.
When are you coming south to show off that beautiful SPF.:D :D Phil |
Don't know when I will get south..I will need to come up with some excuse... stay tuned
I'll take some pics later today and let you when they are in the gallery... Cameron |
I'd love to see some detailed pic's Cameron of your top and how it all fits in so well. I also think the wrap around rear window is great and hope Homebush have something similiar. Take your camera Phil if you make the trip.

This little RMC owner would love a hard top too. Seriously in the market for one.
But then I might "find" one at Sanctuary Cove this sunday. ;) :D |
Cameron,
I noticed your SPF is air conditioned and heated? so if Iam going for hardtop for winter driving will probably need to go that route to keep fog off inside of windows. Did the CTC guys do the air con or did it arrive that way? Is the in car unit visible or tucked under dash? remote controlled? A photo would be nice please. Thanks, Phil |
Might need in for Melbourne weather too!
