Default F1 - Melbourne weather

It's lunchtime on Saturday, and I've been watching the F1 telecast from Melbourne. I thought it might be worth making a few basic comparisons:

9am Melbourne. Air Temp 13 degrees. Rain.
9am Brisbane. Air Temp 24 degrees. Blue sky.

10am Melbourne. Strong wind - more rain. Spectators in winter gear
10am Brisbane. Cooling gentle breeze - not a cloud in the sky. Local swimming pool filled with bikini-clad hotties.

11am Melbourne. Stronger wind. Sleet Forecast for hail. More rain
11am Brisbane. Same as 10am - took Cobra for a cruise in the sun.

12pm Melbourne. Who gives a sh!t anymore, I'm just happy I don't live there!!!!!

I have a newfound respect for Victorians. Your strength and resolve and your willingness to continue to subject yourself to the torture of ever-changing weather is something that must be applauded. Either that, or you just don't realise how good it is up here in Queensland

Well out here in the middle of everywhere it is 31 degrees with a ESE 20kph sea breeze blowing.

As far as the Cobra goes I just wish I could take it out for a drive.

The time right now is 12.00 noon and I am about to walk out the door from work.

I am heading down the Finke track to watch the first round of the NT titles for dune buggies this afternoon.
Raceing starts at 4.00 and finishes at about 11.00pm than another 2 hours tomorrow.

Craig.....How can you?

To all our cobra friends in Melbourne.

Let me apologise for the outburst from one of our most observant members. Normally he is an even tempered fairly sane sorta fella.

I guess the sight of seeing muti-million dollar outfits travel thousands of miles to a remote part of the world to compete and then being inconvenienced by a little hail has sent Craig over the edge.

You would never see me being as critical of Melbourne like Craig was.

Now...where is my medication? Zoloft anyone, how about Dothiepin?

Damn...lets take one of each.

No rain on the day that counts,
Unlike some of those Queensland Indy races from years past.
2002 was a personal favourite. I think you had a whole year of Melbourne’s rainfall in one afternoon.
We just turned the rain on for a few hours to mix up the grid a little.
Made for a great race

Very true about mixing the grid Jason. It was a great race. Usually the celebrity challenge is the exciting race with the F1 cars being a procession. I'm glad to see that the tables were turned this year.

Rain at Indy = you get wet, but you still stay warm
Rain/Sun/Hail/Rain/Sleet in Melbourne = Double pneumonia

Default Queensland weather

Just watching the weather reports tonight and I see the weather for Queensland.
Beautiful one day blown away by a cyclone the next
Have a wet windy day,
Cheers

Ah, Brian, but that's up North. They're used to it up there. They're surrounded by, umm, oh yes, RAIN forests. Strange critturs too, they drink that imported VB and Fosters stuff you know.
Here in the great South-east it's a balmy 24, light breezes, Snapper Rocks is still pumping at 1.5 metres after the Rip Curl last weekend (won by a Queenslander by the way, against the world's best), the frangipannis and flame trees are in full bloom, and the footy season- you know, the real one, rugby league- kicks off on Friday night.
Think I'll put a singlet on and take Q777 for a blat around Mt. Coot-tha, and then adjourn to the pool with a nice cold XXXX.
Cheers!
