Talking Finally getting painted

The painter finally got started on painting my car. Sat/Sun produced the final painting of the body. The doors are complete and the boot, bonnet only needs the stripes & clear and it is complete. He will be finishing thise during the week and hopefully I will get it back next weekend so I can start to put it back together. I only need to do the carpets and otherwise it is just bolt it all together again. So finally there is light at the end of the tunnel

Oh man you must be so pleased. Looks a million bucks !

I can't wait until I get mine painted - would be interested who you got to do the painting - was it Rankins in Bayswater ?

Now it feels like a 'real' kitset when you just bolt everything into place. Enjoy.

Adrian.

Hmmmmmm Nice. Really nice.

Im curious as to how many of you have the body painted on as opposed to off the chassis. The CR manual recommends "on", but when I was in there the other day there was a roller there and the body was off being painted?

Leeroy, did you have your engine bay painted earlier on?

Cheers

You have great taste! That looks like the same color combo I picked for my SPF Coupe. I hope it looks half as good on the coupe as it does on your Cobra!!!

Thanks guys for your approval.

Adrian, guy in Moorabbin paintes it and does quite a lot of the Roaring 40's GT40's. He's a Standox paint technican so he does it after hours which means progress is slow. but it looks to be worth it so far. PM me if you want his number.

Les the interior is black with blue seats.(see my gallery)

Tenrocca I had body preped over 1year ago off the chassis but had engine bay finish painted. In my view this best suited to how I built it as I would certainly have damaged body if it was complete. You would have to totally complete car in gelcoat then pull apart, paint it, then re assemble it. I am to impatient to do that.

Leeroy sent me some pics of his paint job and it looks truly spectacular.

You're going to have a car to be really proud of once it's all bolted back together.

Cheers

Leeroy, The wait might have been tough but the result is awesome. Cant wait to see it all completed with those electric blue seats. Your car is going to be a traffic stopper and a real goer with that great engine
