Default Bloody Cyclones

Just wanting to check and make sure your farm is still with us Blair.
If there is anything you guys need help with can you let us know?

Most people in here may not realise that Blair is about 20kls South from Innisfail and that my father and my wifes family all live in Innisfail.
Before moving to Alice this is the region I was in.

The destruction is fairly severe and has caused alot of damage.
My father lives about 8kls North and where he used to be able to see as far as his fence line (rain forrest) he can now see the town centre.
His house has faired ok with the only damage being all windows are lost and some damaged furniture.

Ronda's (my wife) parents havent faired quit so well in that they have lost half there roof, the patio and the car shed has fallen down - crushing his beloved Peugot (Not a bad thing in my eyes but his toy).

The reports are that the power (electricity) will not be back on for approx 8 weeks.

I am only mentioning this as I feel that we as Aussie's need to remember the way we all pool together and help other nations in there time of need but can very easily forget about ourselves with the attitude of "she will be right"

Sorry if I sound like I have been ranting but as you may be able to guess this has affected my family in a big way.

Thanks for thinking of us Boxhead, things up here, as you know are really bad. We are kind of lucky. We lost a lot of stock and a lot of buildings were damaged, however we are all alive! Others lost everything and I mean everything. Houses, new and old just dismantled. Cars squashed by trees that are so big and old that I would have bet my life on them NEVER falling over.

It is a war zone. Army, navy and riot police are everywhere to keep the population in control. Black hawks and hercules aircraft bringing in supplies. As you can imagine there is no way to get money (no power or phone lines for electronic payment) so people are doing anything to get supplies, and of course those who did not take precautions before are the first to want aid.

As I say we are lucky. We have to create our own electricity for the farm and have several 75kva+ gen sets. We have power and hot water. The rest of town still has no power for probably the next week. We have been told to expect mains power in 6 weeks time! I'll just keep filling up the gens.

The only reason we have internet is because I set up a satelite BB connection. No landline telephones work or digital mobiles, however CDMA is passable. And with all this rain any smart COBRA driver would just leave their car in the shed.

Post some pics when I can

Blair

P.s> The trucking company which damaged my Cobra was going to pay me 'something' however during the storm period I have found out that they have gone into liquidation.
