Default RMC Seat Belts (boring question)

The manual for my RMC says to use the 'Safe and Sound Type 705' seat belt.

I haven't been able to find any reference to this brand/type of seat belt so was wondering how other RMC builders approached thier seat belt mounting and what seat belt they used (OEM or aftermarket)

kit appears to have 3 mount points per seat, 1 vertical/upward facing point each side of the seat and one 1 (for each seat) on a post between the seats (behind the back panel).

I guess I'm really wondering where to mount the reel - after that everything should be OK

Hey LB, there are 4 points, not 3.

The three I think you have identified are:

The vertically upward ones either side of the seat base. Then there is the one at the top of the upright behind the bulkhead.

The one I think you missed is the plate at the bottom of that upright. It is a plate behind the bulkhead ( look for it from under the car) at floor level and behind that previously mentioned inner vertical point.

You need to drill and tap that plate to take the reel unit.

The belt goes from the reel near the floor, up and thru the belt guide at the top of the upright, and back down to the vertical point near the floor.

Unlike your daily driver where the belt comes across your lap and shoulder from the drivers right, on the RMC it comes from the left.

The seat belt buckle and stem is fitted to the vertical point in the corner behind the door.

Did I explain that well enough?.

Cheers

also try to cut the exccsess of the belt as it will be to long, pull the belt right out of the holding unit, have a small ruler in hand and pull the belt out of the reel from the back, once you have the belt out cut off about 250mm (aprox) this will take up the extra slack from the belt, now you burn the end of the belt and replace it as the same way you removed it from the reel. walla ( i think thats how you speel it) you have a shorter belt and also feels a lot better when your in the car. hope this hepls. david
