Default Aussie Peter Brock killed in Daytona Coupe

Another great Australian bites the dust doing what they did best. Peter Brock is dead. The news came about 10 minutes after Dad told me that a friend of ours was killed in a motorcycle accident.

I might go and crawl under a rock for a while...

No Ernie - the Aussie motor racing legend. American Pete Brock actually interviewed Aussie Peter Brock a few years back for an article, and recently sent an email over here commenting on the novelty of having Peter Brock drive the Daytona for Targa Tasmania.

Excaliber
This is definatly NOT Pete Brock of the Shelby racing team. Peter Brock as RalphC says in the thread RIP Brocky was probably Australia's most well known and winningest touring car driver. Won the "Great Race" at Bathurst many times which earnt him the legendry status of "King of the Mountain".

Default Vale Peter Brock

Very sad to hear about Peter Brock

It was nice to see him seeing off his career as a sort of elder-statesman of Aussie motor sport - with a drive here and there.

His appearance usually got a bit of positive coverage for events like the Targa's and I'm sure helped to build their success and prestiege.

He will be missed.

It seems to me that the Targa series impresses hi po car owners to drive up to and beyond their limits.... I watch these races in fear and horror as people drive their magnificant cars to near destruction and some times that fate. I build cars and love to run them......never wanting to destroy them. I feel too much money and no involvement in the construction makes for no respect for the awsome machine they drive. Brocky did have that attitude one time.

The papers this morning reported that it was an Aussie designed and built Daytona. Does anyone know which? Harrison?

The rag also reported that he said he was happy with the prformance and handling of the car and that the car made a lot of sense.

I would be guessing it was a car from Daytona Sports Cars in Dromana VIC. There was one on display at the nats in 05.Pulled the brochure out this morning, powered by Chev, turnkey only, has been tested in Targa Tassy
