Unhappy What NOT to do at Wakefield

Having sat on the fence and watched the sprints on Sunday, my son decided to take his Satria GTI to Wakefield yesterday (he was the unshaven dude in a white t-shirt sitting on the garbage bin at the track entrance).

The following vid shows the result ..... he backed into the marshalls box at the hairpin...

http://files.filefront.com//;5972089;;/ (note: its 8 Mb)

No idea how he did it. It is not his first time there, and he was still 2 secs off his best time.

Estimated $5k damage to the back end, including bent control arm on right rear, and twisted the Recaro drivers seat - he was lucky the airbag didn't go off..

And yes - he does work - he is a schoolteacher and it is holidays...

Not sure how he lost it Ralph,

The car just seemed to lose grip yet went round the previous corner okay.

May be the car in front kicked up some loose gravel / dirt and your son hit it and spun.

I presume the box was empty at the time of the incident?

Yeah - the box was empty (always is on speed off the street days). The car in front definately hits the dirt before the corner, so you're probably right that it dragged some right onto the line. It's just a strange corner to lose it on - particularly in a front wheel drive.
