Default Nite at the Drags

I have finally sorted some things out with the car, so decided to give it a run at WSID.

Beejay came along and got this video that he put on Utube.

This was the first run, the second was 11.76 @ 118.48MPH.

Still got a lot in the tank, I will keep going and hopefully get a 10sec pass by the end of the year.

They were not happy with the first pass, but let me have another if I rolled off the end.

Having to much fun to paint the car.

Phil

11.76 .....and a few more runs with reaction times improving, along with what left in the tank.... should see a high 10 pass.

Great clip

Great clip Phil, look forward to faster times in the near future! A 10 sec pass would certainly be pretty special! I'm pretty sure the the magic 10s would be more achievable if your ageing a$$ didn't get in the way of your reaction time!! ha ha! lost at least .5 secs there buddy and you still got a great time!

See you at Castle Hill (with car)

Stef

Default Reaction Time

The reation time has nothing to do with the ET, the timing starts when you break the beam. The reation time is factured in when you are racing against some one else.

If it was left up to my reflexes I would not have a chance.

See you there Stef.

Lo Belly I have filled out the profile.

Default Any time

The MTs are great.

If you warm them properly they stick.

Bring it on Phil, I am smiling just thinking about it, good times ahead.

Great stuff...

Post up all the details from the time-slip, I'd be interested to see your 60ft times....

I love my Drag Racing and can't wait to hit the track in the Cobra....

Edit: Will they let you race there again or do you have to meet full ANDRA regs now???

Default All the specs

Blair, commodores are no contest!!! Notice how the Cobra drowned out the other thing, side pipes are one of the few pleasures in life.

Plums, must admit I am a little hooked now, it is very relaxing and lots of fun.

All the specs

Air Temp 22c
Rel Humidity 77
Abs Barrometer 29.98
Track Temp 42c

r/t .586
60' 1.934
330' 5.140
660' 7.742
MPH 95.92
1000' 9.911
ET 11.761
MPH 118.48
Kph 190.68

I would not be allowed back at the moment, it was a bit of a negotiation to get the second pass. I promised to roll off but went quicker.

However, we have worked out a way to get a removable cage built, have a meeting with NSW ANDRA Tech on Saturday, if all ok will have cage done in 2 weeks.

Hey Phil, what rear gears are you running and what tremec is that (500 or 600) and what 5th if it's a 600?

and...

How is the tremec's gear change?...you happy with it?.

Default Whats the diff

HI Rebel1,
I have a Tremec that I bought from the ford racing catalogue, it is rated at 600 foot pounds, "improved shift forks and one piece counter shaft" and the ratios are 2.92 1.89 1.28 1.00 .82.

The original T5 shifted much better than this one, I would like to see if I can improve the shifts.

Diff ratio 3.45:1 LSD

Rear Tyre size 275 40 17 MT ET streets.

No offence Phil, but 1.9xx 60ft is bloody shocking!!! There is heaps left in that machine, you should (fairly easily) be able to get down to 1.6xx 60's and 11.2xx ET's without much trouble at all!!!!
Awesome stuff, I am sooo jealous....

I am EXTREMELY interested in your removable cage, I'd love to get the details when it's completed....

Thanks Phil, That's the TR600 model.....same as mine. That's why my interest.

They wont be as slick a shift as the T5 but will smooth out heaps when you get some miles on them.

Your engine would tear a T5 to pieces.

Default Watch it buddy.

Absolutely no offence taken.

I will always be the weakest link in the car.

That is what I mean by a lot left in the tank, I just don't want to hard launch yet, I was not sure how the car would feel with the MTs.

Will go harder next time,

I will post some pics of the cage when done.

Phil

Default Roll cage update

As mentioned earlier In the thread I had a meeting with The ANDRA officials Kym and Tim. These are the guys that will actually sign off the cage when complete.

We have worked out a way to get it done to meet requiremants and it is also removable.

The cage is a 6 point and will also incorporate the mounts for the harness.

The only dissapointing thing is that the current tubes that hold the standard roll bar cannot be used.

The way this works is by removing the doors and replacing them with just door skins.

It is booked in on the 29th and will be completed in that week.

I will post as many pics as I can.

The Andra guys were really good, they encourage people to enjoy the sport. The only negative is that we will have to have arm restraints, SFI approved helmets and race suits.

With all this done we can run 10 second passes.

Phil

Hi Phil
Car Hooks Up Quite Well I'm Usure You Will Hit The Tens
I;m Interested In Your Cge And How You Get On With Andra.
I Had A Six Point Cage Built By An Andra Approved Fabricator Only To Find Out They Would Not Approve It Unless It Was Welded In.
It Proved Its Strenght At The Nationals A Couple Of Years Ago
With No Damage Or Distortion To The Cage.
Good Luck Greg Hood
