Diecast models
I thought I'd purchase a 1:18 scale diecast model to drool over until such time as I've got some real parts to play with. :)
Does anyone have either of these models and are they any good? They vary quite a bit in price but both look pretty accurate. The licensed Shelby product for $77.00: http://www.revmodels.com/product.php...cat=335&page=2 And the "Yat Ming" model for $39.00: http://www.revmodels.com/product.php...cat=335&page=2 Thanks, Paul |
hi! you can get many models from different locations. Ebay of course has zillions.
'diecastcentral' . com is pretty good, with a variety. Exoto (sp?) has expensive but very accurate, hand built models. Almost all are 1:18, or 1:43. I've bought as 'cheap' as $20 US, to hmmm, hate to say how much my most expensive is... there are cheap 1:43 on ebay. <$10, US. Now that being said, I have YET to find my EXACT car. most have chrome rollbar, sidepipes, but with 'hoop' or bumperettes. If i find one with quickjacks, then the sidepipes are chrome. Or the roll bar is black. Or the wheels are different... you get the idea. ;) I have a very nice Kyosho that is pretty close to 'my car'. I'll look for a couple of pics in my gallery, and also look for some links. :) I have a couple of shelves of models- it's very addicting!!!!! Kristen this photo is nearly 3 years old-- i have TONS more! plus, i added a bookshelf for my Mustang models. :JEKYLHYDE http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...05DSC00118.JPG mustang shelf is NOW full... http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...05DSC00955.JPG and, with a THIRD CAR arriving soon, must make room in garage for a third shelf. Did i say addictive?? I get lots of toys.... ;) :D my 'most expensive' model. lives in the house, not the garage!!! http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...05DSC00634.JPG CSX 2128, hey little cobra car... '1963 Dan Gurney's Sebring Car'.... |
I happen to have a 1:43 scale die cast "Kyosho Original". Racing Blue, white stripes-- chrome rol bag white pipes. Model # No. 03012A -- in the original box which is signed by Carroll Shelby -- I was wondering what the value is -- any ideas?

I don't know Mike. **)
I am sure there are many on here who are more knowledgeable in value than I. I am always on the quest for 'my car'. Interesting you would also have a Kyosho. Very good quality model. The one I have is a 'miniZ' RC car. slightly smaller than a 1:43 size, white pipes, chrome rollbar, chrome quickjacks, and the wheels are almost right on! Haven't taken it out of the box to see if it is a 'turkey pan' setup, or webers, or what the engine looks like. I generally keep them 'in the box', but do have several on the shelves. I have a pic of the MiniZ by Kyosho somewhere in my gallery. I paid a bit more for it than the usual $30 or so. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...05DSC00366.JPG excellent detail, very nice. :) a basic 'yat ming' for $23?? http://diecastfast.com/Merchant2/mer...M64S/64SHELBYB type in "diecast model cars of Shelby Cobra" in your browser, and start looking!!! :) |
Thank's for the feedback --Mine has never been out of bow either. It just sits here on the shelf, just as the others do. It is an interesting hobby --
Do you go to the London Car Show, in Ohio? Maybe someone will jump in here and let me know. Mike |
Here are some of mine.
http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...l_cars_002.jpg And I just bought this of ebay last week. http://i17.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/80/78/4f9f_1.JPG I also have afew plastic kits that have not been assembled yet. |
One of the ones I have is the blue one in the lower right picture - in front of the red box. -- that one is in the box signed by CS.
Thnks for your pictures Mike |
The blue car with the white exhaust is also a Kyosho brand, it and the silver car in the box are very well detailed, even down to felt for carpet.

They become as addictive as the one in the garage!

Nice collection --I haven't seen the hard top one's yet. Mike |
they are all over the internet!!!
go to Exoto's website- now that's quality!! $200 for cobra models. The kyosho models are excellent, for a lot less money. still pricier than cheap ones, but not $200. :) I have some junky ones for $10 or so. Plastic engines... but it's all fun! The ones with 'pull back action' (roll backwards a few feet then they 'go' forward) are a lot of fun!! I seem to have more of the 1:64 (hot wheels, matchbox size) and 1:43 than 1:18. all over ebay. But, if you don't do ebay you can get them off of internet sites as well. :) K Mike, that's a good one you have. The only one i got signed was the 'heart foundation' issued hot wheels. he signed the top of the card over the box. Limited edition hot wheels. |
Very nice models guys, we've ended up with a few as we found putting the kits together and painting them different colours was a great way to see how the colours would look when we were ready to paint. It really helped us narrow down our colour selection because what we thought looked great at first became boring and tiring after a while so we would take that colour out of the possibles.

I have also purchased a few models over the years and they are laying around my son's room now.
Interestingly the only models he now wants is the Victoria Secrets models.. |
Bernie, I'm a mate of Todd's and I have a rather discriminating photo of him at a Thai restaurant that might suggest otherwise! But you'll have to ask him about that... :D

You might want to check out the Cobras by Creative Masters. They are 1/20th scale and quite accurate.

Nice collections everyone!
I thought I'd be different and pull apart a couple of them for specific purposes, ie: mechanics working on them, etc.
Here are a couple of pics as they sit in my office :D http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../IMG_08231.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2275.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../IMG_08251.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../IMG_22711.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2274.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2277.JPG and of course, the hard earned diploma! http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2281.JPG |
